Fantasy Football Advice

I know, right. Probably should not have taken him on this last team, seeing as I had Calvin Johnson. I panicked, we only had 60 seconds to pick.

We all have our favorites we like to draft. Like I said, Justin Blackmon and Roddy White were mine this year.

On a team where I have:

Frank Gore
Isaac Redman
Shonn Green
Jonathan Stewart
Evan Royster

someone just dropped Beanie Wells. Is he healthy enough to drop Royster and put on my bench as either trade bait later, or possibly be better than one of the other backs I have?

Now that Hightower has been cut I'm not sure. Is it PPR?

No, not PPR. Only points on yards and touchdowns
I would pick up Beanie and drop Royster.

edit: If I were you I would pick up Ryan Williams over Beanie due to the upside. If Beanie does get hurt you should pick him up immediately or stash up if you have another spot you could give up.

Had an 8 team fantasy draft today.. Team's pretty solid, I have no complaints other than the fact that we have HC position, and 3 roster spots for kickers. :slappy:

I missed my first round pick, but here's what I ended up with:

QB: Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub
RB: Lesean McCoy, Matt Forte, Trent Richardson, Beanie, and Peyton Hillis
WR: Roddy White, Julio Jones (despite drafting White, I couldn't pass him up), Percy Harvin, Justin Blackmon, Alshon Jeffery
TE: Antonio Gates, Jason Witten
D/ST: Lions, Packers
K: Nate Kaeding
HC: Saints (if he's suspended, does that count against this position? I'm really unfamiliar with HC spots on FF leagues.)

I have an auction draft tonight at 7:45 and it's the first one I've ever done. Does anyone have any tried & true strategies?

Budget of $200
QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, W/R/T, K, DEF and 7 bench spots

The scoring system on offense is:
Passing TDs are worth 4
Rushing TDs are worth 6
Receiving TDs are worth 6

With that scoring system, it looks like it might be best to spend more on a top RBs or WR, and try to get a mid-level QB like Ryan, Manning(s), Rivers, etc. Other than that I'm pretty clueless.

Wish I could help you on this one, but I usually try to stay away from Auction Type drafts.

Me too. I committed to the league (it's just a group of friends) and they changed it after the fact. The guy running it owes me money, so at the very least I'll just tell him to take my buy-in off of his tab

Make sure you leave enough money to do some bidding at the end. You must have $1 per remaining spot, meaning you won't be able to bid $7 for David Wilson unless you leave at least $6 + $1 for every remaining roster spot.

There are a ton of QBs. Eli can usually be grabbed at a steep discount, never mind guys like Rivers or Big Ben. Wait on those guys.

I spent big on MJD & Megatron last year and was rewarded handsomely (almost won it all). Be ready to pay a premium for the best, do not do so for pretty good players. I'm not sure I'd spend the same on MJD this year, just an example about high ticket guys.

There are very few reliable backs so reserve some money for the right guy. McCoy goes for outrageous dollars in most auction drafts, if he's below $55, get him.

Receiver is a lot deeper. For me, I love loading up on top receivers but they can be had for a bargain. The 8th and 20th ranked receivers are not that different.

TE is very deep as well. Easy to snag a $1-3 steal late in the draft when no one has any money.
