Fired up! Ready to go!
I cannot believe we haven't had this question yet, but what's your favorite ice cream?

Burnt caramel from Toscanini's (Harvard Square)
Salty caramel from Jeni's Ice Cream (Grandview)
Coffee ice cream from Jeni's
Half Baked (Ben & Jerry's)
Mint Chocolate Chip (Graeter's)

Vanilla.

:p

hehe, seriously, though:

Black Raspberry from Friendly's.

It was always my favorite when I was a kid. I haven't seen Friendly's in probably 10 years, but I vividly remember what the ice cream tastes like.

Apple Pie a la mode from Coldstone

Also a big fan of the Samoas ice cream when Edy's/Dreyers does the seasonal girl scout cookie flavors.

Can never go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter though.

Had this place in Algiers, La that made its own ice cream, owned by the guy who ran LaRuth's Restaurant. It was called "Chelsea's". Made a butter pecan ice cream with 25% butter fat. You could feel your lifeline diminish as you ate it.

Chocolate-peanut butter from Kroeger's
Any chocolate-almond-marshmalow combo
Any really good butter pecan

When I visited Japan, I read an article in the English newspaper about octopus ice cream-even the Japanese quoted in the article thought that was gross......

Graeter's black raspberry chocolate chunk.

Also, I've got to try this Jeni's. Denver Post writer John Henderson, who has the enviable job of specializing in writing about travel, food, and college football . . . with a lesser focus on other sports, and is about the only literate writer the Post employs, raved about it. http://www.napics.com/08162006.html.

Interesting article-too bad he ripped on borscht-borscht is a staple of life for us Ukrainians!

the now defunct peanut butter cookie dough (in chocolate ice cream) from Ben 'n Jerry's. Greatest ice cream of all-time.

That sounds amazing.

I also loved the defunct blonde brownie sundae.

Right now I am a fan of HD Caramel Cone or B&J Americore (which is basically a copy of the HD one. . .)

For non-store bought ice creams, the best I had is some place that I forget the name of in Barcelona. :P
