Favorite OSU Football moment? (Merged)

Now that we are in the off-season, how about a new thread dedicated to the one play that characterizes Ohio State football to you.

For me, it is a visual image of a Dispatch front page with Paul Warfield catching a pass from Unverferth for the winning TD in the 1963 edition of The Game.

This version of the Game stands out for me for a couple of reasons. One is this catch. The other is that John Kennedy had been assasinated a week before and the game was postponed until the funeral had been conducted. The Game took on special significance.

I haven't seen the picture of Warfield's catch since that time and I was just 9 years old, but the catch is indelibly etched in my mind in all its black and white glory...in my memory it was a feet in the air acrobatic catch that allowed us to come from behind and win. UM were stunned, who expected Woody to pass?

I search the internet from time to time trying to find that image but so far no luck. Perhaps that is why it burns so indelibly in my mind still to this day?

With all due respect to all of the other greats who have donned the scarlet and gray, Warfield remains my favorite all-time player and this play defines Ohio State football for me better than any other play I can remember.

While it's hard to choose just one, I'm going with Keith Byars' one-shoe TD gallop in 1984, during the come-from-behind win over Illinois. I grew up in Ohio but never attended a game until my freshman year in 1983. Watching the Bucks rally from 0-24 to win 45-38, in the 'Shoe, was amazing. I can still see his sock flopping with every step as he ran right at us in the closed end of the stadium.

I have a really bad memory, plus I'm pretty young so I won't be able to remember as far back as some of you guys but here goes anyways.

One play that really stands out for me was an amazing catch by Terry Glen where he laid out and dove (it must've been 10 yards) for what seemed like forever and ended up making the catch. The pass must have been at least a 50 yarder and when Terry came down with the ball he landed on his shoulder and ended up sitting out the last couple games of the season (I think). I was amazed at how he sacrificed his body to make the play and I will always remember that.

Another great one was by the player of which we do not speak of (The Village spoof there) during the Fiesta bowl where Krenzel threw a pick and #13 ran down the guy from Miami from behind and stripped the ball. Like the guy or not he was a hell of a player.

Just thought of another one...

Teddy's first touchdown this year. I swear to god I almost had tears in my eyes and I was screaming at the t.v. like a little schoolgirl

If the criteria is all-time favorite play, it would have to be the "Holy Buckeye!" play from the 2002 Purdue game. If it's one play that characterizes Ohio State football, then Pete Johnson's game-winning TD run in the final minutes at Michigan in their 21-14 come-from-behind win is a prime candidate.

Wow...pretty hard topic...

I have seen a lot of games in my 35 short years and only one play stands out as a 'defining' play...

others come close..

but 4th and 12 in the first OT in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl is it. Backs to the wall...final play of the season if there is no conversion...two unflappable players combining for one of the biggest plays in OSU history.

Yeah, that play gets my vote.

I don't know about favorite play, but my most memorable play was at the 2002 Illini game. Krenzel made an unbelievable scramble keeping the game in reach and the season intact. It was insane how many tOSU fans were there. That place was rockin'.

I always think of Eddie George's break away TD against Illinois ('95) at the beginning of the second half. When I think of Heisman clinching highlights, that one stands out to me.

I don't think I'll ever forget Holy Buckeye, where I was watching it, or how I felt.

Another great one is Cie Grant's pressure on Ken Dorsey to force a wobbly incomplete pass and win the NC.
how shitty was that series of play calls? seriously, somebody at miami shouldve been fired over that.
