FIFA 12 (official thread)

Won the MLS Cup my first year with the Crew. Offered a job at my favorite European team Celtic, made some big transfer moves, getting rid of some guys and buying Tim Howard and Altidore along with a few others. I love having $ in the budget to get big name guys.

This game plays so much different with good teams. It's amazing the difference between the players in the low 60's to upper 70's overall.

Yeah - that shows up playing the full slate with Spurs too. My starting XI and the first few guys on my bench range from the upper 80's (Modric, van der Vaart, etc.) to guys in the upper 70s (Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Iago Falque, etc.). When you get deep into the season and the cup competitions, the matches start piling up. It's not uncommon to wind up with four matches in nine days or something insane like that.

The difficulty comes in finding ways to rotate players and keep them fresh while still winning matches. There are times where I need to put in my entire B-team, and it's a stark difference in the kind of game I'm able to play with them. I guess that's a good thing. It's realistic at least.

Having not played a FIFA game in several years before this one, I'm also starting to discover a few things about the CPU. Road games are always tougher than home games, and CPU teams go into no-foul Terminator god-mode for entire matches if it's a cup semifinal or final. I'll be able to comfortably beat Fulham in EPL play, and then four days later against the same starting XI I'll have to run my team ragged just to pull out a 2-1 win against them in a cup match. In one respect, I see how that can be a good thing and somewhat realistic, but I think it's a bit out of balance.

I recently sold off Giovani dos Santos. Somehow that dude was rated an 81 in the middle of my second season, but he does nothing well. He can't finish, he can't pass. In real life he seems to have good pace but in this game and on this team he's nowhere near guys who play on the wing for me (Lennon, Bale, Pienaar, etc.). Furthermore, any time I tried to get him some playing time (and at first I tried a lot) he would be gassed after 20 minutes. Maybe he could be a super sub for a lesser team, but he was useless to mine and I just grew tired of his ceaseless bitching about playing time.

I feel bad.. I'm THAT guy playing with Real Madrid... But I play with Lassana Diarra at CDM(who's listed as a reserve.... WTF) and Ramos at CB... It's almost unbeatable. I rocked Man U. 3-1, then Brazil 2-0. I scored a 90th Ronaldo goal by shooting a finesse shot on the ground past Julio Cesar. It was hilarious. I knew it was a goal so I immediately prepared for celebration where I just went two fingers up in the air followed by a knee slide at the corner flag. He then quit out.

Whooped Man U in my last preseason game 3-0 last night. I saved a video of a sweet long range shot for the last goal. I need to start saving these thing on my comp or upload to YouTube so I have a sweet collection.

It's a shame I'll have to make Bocanegra and the Rangers look like shit the first SPL match

 I suck at skill moves. Probably because I don't know exactly the motions to do certain moves except the cross over, and so I just mash the right stick all over, and 98% of the time I get stuffed, and stuffed HARD.

I also have yet to score off a free kick. It's bugging me. I used to score about 85% of the time with free kicks within 25yrds. :(

You got some impressive goals! I'm guessing your finessing on those bends?

Are you using RB + B??? Because LB + B is a lob shot. And also, I move the left stick to the left (to bend it left, and right to bend right). This also depends on the angle to where you are on the pitch to the goal.

Oh and get rid of assisted shooting if you have that. It's rubbish. At very worst go with semi-shooting assistance
