what about this; two people go back and forth; (person 1) PLayer ## is great! hes awesome blah blah blah
(Person 2), I think player ## is not good, i think hes insufficient in many areas blah blah blah.

Now you can say that this would be bashing a player; but you can also say that it is counter-arguing against another person; obviously if the counter argument goes on with using harsh words and a ill tone it could be consider bashing; but this has been most of what i've witnessed on this board. Not people going on the player thread and openly bashing the player; but seeing an argument from the other side. Am i close or no?

To me it depends on how the critique is presented.

There are hundreds of ways to say "Player A is not using very good vision and is missing the open holes" without saying "Player A is horrible and does not need to touch the ball anymore."

Critique with sense...fine.

We can talk football all day long...but if it becomes personal, there is a problem.

think about it this way, would jim tressel say that? thats the man who lavishes praise and finds ways to be positive when looking at nearly every situation. you can analyze it and shed light on things in a positive manner. seriously folks its not hard. would jim tressel say it? does it exemplify acting with class? do you have to think about it-then dont post it...

I think it would be wise for people to stay away from posting in the game thread this week. It's a huge game. There are going to be bad plays and calls that you may disagree with. You will get frustrated at times, and that may spur some to vent that frustration. I'd say let's just chill with the game thread, because we are all passionate fans, and that's why we are here, but that may get us in trouble in the game thread on Sat. night.

When we talk football in here we are expected to do it as at least semi-intelligent people who have a better than average understanding of the game. Not like an irrational 15 year old girl who thinks, Oh my god can you believe how bad player A sucks they totally cost us the game this weekend, they should like totally die.
