FINALLY some OHIO STATE Under Armour!

UA has a military oriented line as well. It is quite popular with those in the sandbox (bought my son some for OIF I). However, questions have been raised about its suitability in the combat environment because it is not a natural fiber. This has some negative implications in treating wounds and more impotantly burns. Having melted material to deal with on top of everythig else has become a real concern.

The Marine Corps has banned the use of UA and other poly/nylon based materials. Having seen the results of a kid who was caught in a vehicle fire wearing an UA undershirt, I STRONGLY recomend against wearing them in any situation where you could possibly be exposed to flame.

It's pretty horrific.

There are nomex based alternatives that cost more but are 1000% safer. I personally use Ringers UnderX (which is primarily designed for racing and is expensive but is a kickass product), but there are others as well (5.11 Tactical, Massif, Wickers & XGO all make quality products).

FWIW this isn't really a new issue. Tankers/tracks/pilots have not been allowed to wear synethic materials for decades, even so far as to be banned from wearing jungle boots due to the nylon inserts. The Navy also banned poly uniforms & synthetic coraframs after the Stark was hit and caught fire in the late 80's.
