  • Four-star 2026 offensive lineman Micah Champion Smith: “My thoughts on my OSU visit is that it’s hands down one of the best schools I’ve been to so far. The experience was amazing. The atmosphere was like no other. I talked to Mike Sollenne and coach Frye. We talked about how I loved Ohio State and they gave me some tips on how to develop into one of the top offensive linemen in the country.”

2026 seems so far out, but Smith would be an enormous pickup. Greer and Riley seem promising in-state, adding Smith as an OOS guy at OT would be huge.

Great reps at the Orlando UA camp

Givler on Smith:
"Smith was tremendous today. Winning most of his reps in 1on1s, working at both right guard and right tackle. he is already a college sized player and has great feet for a kid His size. I loved his competitive nature. He kept running out to try and beat other kids to the spot to get more reps In 1 on 1's against kids who were mostly a year older. He is coming back up for the Spring game which will be his third visit already."

“It was big-time,” Smith said of being offered by OSU. “Coach Day said he wanted to offer me and I was shocked. That’s been my dream school ever since I was a little kid.”

Smith has already locked in two more Ohio State visits. He says he’ll return to campus at the beginning of June and will attend the Buckeyes’ regular season finale against Michigan in November.

“That’ll be pretty interesting,” Smith said of the Michigan game.

There’s no rush from Smith to commit, but he envisions deciding where he’ll play college football around this time next year before the start of his senior season. He said the criteria he values most in his recruitment are development on and off the field, the culture of the program and if the team is a consistent winner.

Ohio State could end up being the school that meets those criteria for Smith.

“If you go there, you get coached by the best, and the best are already there so you get to learn from your peers,” Smith said. “Only legends go there. If you want to be a legend, that’s where you go.”
