Florida Gators 2009 Baseball

Gators - Hatters rained out (GatorZone free)

The scheduled baseball game between No. 19 Florida and Stetson on Wednesday night at McKethan Stadium has been postponed due to inclement weather. The Gators (18-9/6-3 SEC) and Hatters (10-17/3-6 Atlantic Sun) are now slated to meet on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for tonight's game will be honored on April 15, which will also be "Dollar Day."

UF resumes its Southeastern Conference schedule on Friday night when it faces Eastern Division rival Vanderbilt (17-10/3-6 SEC) in the opener of a three-game series at Charles Hawkins Field. The game will be televised live on FSN Florida at 7 p.m.

Dollar day! I'm all over it!

Vanderbilt (19-12/5-7 SEC) overcame a 9-2 deficit with 14 consecutive runs to hand No. 19 Florida (19-11/7-5 SEC) a 16-9 setback on Sunday afternoon at Hawkins Field. The Commodores plated two runs in the sixth and five in the seventh before snapping a 9-9 tie with seven unearned runs on two hits and two errors in the eighth to claim the weekend series. Freshman Sonny Gray (2-0) recorded three strikeouts and allowed one hit over two innings to pick up the win after saving Saturday?s game.

Have to give BIG props to this kid from Tampa, freshman Preston Tucker, who tied the friggin' SEC single-game record (and made a new UF record) getting 11 ribbies in 16-3 win over UCF. The freshman first baseman hit a grand slam to right field in the 5th, another slam to center in the seventh and a lowly three run dinger to left center in the sixth. :banger:

You go Gator :groove:

Auburn series: Friday was rain delayed with the Gators up by five I think. Anyway, finished Saturday by letting the tigerplainseagles come back from a 7-1 deficit to win 8-7. :smash:

Second game Saturday, we were pissed at booting the delayed game from Friday, and took it out on them by the score of 24-2.

We got a few hits.

We finished with a 5-1 win today to take the series - at Auburn.

A matchup to keep your eye on Ubet will be the game when JU travels to Gainesville mid-May. JU took down #6 FSU and are currently sitting at 23-10 on the season. Solid club it seems, though they are behind my KSU Owls in the A-Sun right now. I may cover the series at the beginning of May when JU comes to ATL, so I may get a good look. Could end up being a pretty entertaining game. They will be coming off a three game road trip in Macon @ Mercer, so there could be some fatigue. Let me say they have had 4 complete blow outs this season, but have a winning % of over 700 right now, lots of baseball left though.
