Antonio Callaway, Jordan Scarlett among Gators players tagged in fraud case

Wide receiver Antonio Callaway and starting tailback Jordan Scarlett are among nine suspended Florida Gators players facing multiple third-degree felony charges after a UF Police Department investigation into alleged credit card fraud.

Seven of the suspended players, including Callaway and Scarlett, are facing two third-degree felonies: fraud/swindle in obtaining property under $20,000 and use or possession of another person's ID without consent.

Apparently the Gainesville Police Department is a lot tougher on football players than Tallahassee's PD.

no kidding. sheesh.

Now, they'll go fuck these guys lives up forever with felonies and being kicked out of school over some nickel dime shit while places like Tallahassee, Waco and Happy Valley go on doing their thing.

I'm not usually one for sparing the rod but goddamn

UF definitely can't let it look like they condone this so these guys need to lose football privileges for sure.

After that I'm thinking fines, misdemeanors and community service are more appropriate.

I'm no lawyer but the injured party is out some money here. Pay money back plus some and move on.

A felony conviction(s) will fuck these guys life forever and that is even if they don't do jail time.

Doesn't seem like justice to me but I haven't read the whole thing.

ID Theft/Credit Card Fraud involving more than one person will invoke the Fed. I get what you're saying, but this is beyond petty theft. There were multiple defrauded credit card holders and the players were sharing the CC numbers. That's not impulsively boosting some crab legs from a Publix or stealing someones MacBook Pro out of their dorm. This is premeditated -- and we haven't scratched the surface of how the CC files came into their possession. Three of these guys are getting two years, minimum.

yeah, it isn't a good situation

I just see them (at least some of them) buying fucking snacks with it and would hope the rule of common sense is applied. That's not the act of an arch criminal. Make no mistake, I feel punishment needs to occur.

Galactically stupid on the young men's part and they have to take responsibility for whatever happens. The parent in me just doesn't see this as something they need to pay for, for the rest of their lives.

Getting soft in my old age I guess.
