Former LB Coach Al Washington (Official Thread)

One of the Buckeye podcasts mentioned that Day and Knowles tried to keep Washington, but they wanted him in more of a reduced role and as an assistant to LJsr, as opposed to him recruiting his own position. He scoffed, and then was shown the door. As the change in position wasn't asked or an option...

Enjoy South Bend, and best of luck. But I hope our OL destroys ND's in September, and we run for over 200yds

It’s funny to me that both Washington and Coombs were seemingly asked to take reduced roles at Ohio State, scoffed at the offer, and then took what are basically the exact same reduced roles at a different school.

Washington, Coombs, and Barnes got hired pretty quick; which leads you to believe that they are good coaches, just no longer a good fit at Ohio State.

You have to feel kind of bad for him; especially after he turned down the Tennessee offer to stay at Ohio State just last year. Hindsight is 20/20, he should have taken the DC position with the > $1M salary at Tennessee.

I do hope he got a good contract and and gets a DC offer in the next few years.

Good luck to Al.

I find that very ironic as well. But I think they thought that they would get better positions than what they signed for

I believe Birm shot down the rumor of AW being offered a spot under LJ.

I tend to trust him and Ward the most.
I believe Tim May and AW(or it could've been Tom Orr and Tony Gerdeman, who are just as plugged into the OSU football team) were the ones to say that Washington scoffed at the position under LJsr...
