Forrest Griffin (Ult. Fight. Cham.)

Awesome fight. Wow.

I was kind of bummed about Shamrock losing so fast. He is getting old, and it has caught up to him. Maybe he should go back to the WWE

griffin f'in rocks! was rooting for him from the beggining of the show. spike tv is airing the fight again tonight at 11pm. just listen to him in the interviews. me cracks me up!

reporter: forest, what is your strategy for your fight with bonnar?
forest: well, im gonna let him hit me in the mouth and then figure it out from there.
forest: im very thankful to my trainer, he's the reason i am where i am today. if it wasn't for him id be a cop with a beautiful wife, a couple kids, a house with a white picket fence. instead i sleep on an air mattress in his living room, don't have medical insurance, and get beat up for a living.

for those of you who weren't paying attention to the prematch, in a fight prior to him joining the group in the UFC house. he was in a match and got caught in an armbar. he refused to tap and the guy broke his forarm. he then knocked the guy out. his response to one of the other guys in the house was "yeah, in hindsight i probably should have tapped". he also has a thing for smiling at you when you hit him hard. if you watch the fight you will see him smile and bonnar several times.

he chose to fight alex stating that he thought he was the weakest in the weight group. alex took him pretty good in stand up cutting his eye in the process but griffin owned him once they went to the ground forcing the ref to stop the fight. after the fight griffin went over the other fighters and yelled, "how bout that ass whippin alex just gave me?" "give it up for alex!".

the guy is a trip. they should just follow him around with a camera. they'd make millions!

congrats to both griffin and bonnar!! wish both guys well.

Wow. Just found UFC by chance...Tom Silvia just KO'd Champ Ricco Rodriguez. It is an old fight...but damn it was an amazing shot.

Since then Sylvia was busted for steroids, had his arm broke in a 1st round loss to Frank Mir and then tapped out to Andre Orlovsky in the 1st round.

Nice to see there are some UFC fans here.

I was in C-bus last nite to watch some fights at Promo West. Mark Coleman put the entire thing on. He talked to me for a minute. Very nice guy (outside the ring) I had a friend in it. It was a great atmosphere. They fought in a ring, but with the UFC rules....great time.

Huge fan here. I made a post about Randleman in the Other Sports forum that had some sick KOs... I love it.

Anyone see the show last week? Franklin/Tanner, what a fight.

They are having a live card on Spike TV right now. Josh Koscheck won the first fight by rear naked choke in the first round. If his striking skills and submissions continue to improve, to go along with his wrestling ability, Koscheck will be an unbelievable fighter. He's pretty good as it is.

Time: 9:00 PM EST

Summary:
The Octagon ™ unleashes a fury when the Ultimate Fighting Championship ® (UFC ®) organization holds the first-ever “Ultimate Fight Night,” a nationally-televised event on Spike TV featuring fighters from the hit reality series “The Ultimate Fighter ™.” Stephan Bonnar, Sam Hoger, Alex Karalexis and Kenny Florian will be pitted against each other, and Chris Leben, Nate Quarry and Josh Koscheck will face-off with Patrick Cote, Pete Sell and Pete Spratt in a soon-to-be classic UFC event live on Spike TV from Las Vegas’ Cox Pavilion Saturday, August 6, 2005. Leben is my favorite and I cannot stand Koscheck, but at least he has some actually skills now beside laying on top of a guy for 3 rounds. Bonner just beat Hogar. I cannot believe how tough Bonner is considering he looks like a total douche bag.

Couldn't agree more about Bonner. Had he been in better shape there is no way that fight goes to the judges.

Koscheck looks cut and definitely is improving his striking. It was hard watching him continually take guys to the ground and then do nothing.

Leben is obnoxious but he's tough, I'll give him that.

I really like Leben, but don't see him being that great of a fighter, he isn't good enough on the ground and can't prevent the takedowns like chuck.

I also don't see Bonner or Griffin being great UFC fighters, i think the light heavyweight division of ultimate fighter was fairly weak.

I think Koscheck and Diego could be serious contenders in UFC, especially since Koscheck went down to 170 lbs.

Not sure if I agree with you as I see both of them with major potential due to iron chins. Both have good hand skills but need to work on ground technique...Bonner showed some decent counter ability last night.

They aren't ready for the big dogs yet, but I wouldn't rule them out yet.
