list of guys needing to prove they are nfl caliber.

5) Lydell Ross (RB, Ohio State) – He was one of the top prep players in the country, when he came to Columbus, via Florida, in 2000, but got overshadowed by Jonathan Wells and Maurice Clarett before finally gaining the starting job last season, by default, as a result of the Clarett debacle. Coming into this season, he’s finally the undisputed No. 1 man, and, if his performance this past Saturday was any indication of how things will go this year, Ross could go a long way in proving his worth to the Buckeye offense and sneak a seat among the great OSU RB alum, who went on to greatness in the NFL.

I'm impressed. Most of the time, the media is too busy slamming the Buckeye offense to compliment a component of it. If the running game continues to make improvements this season, Flydell will be playing on Sunday's next year.

I've been saying all along that Ross will have a Chris Perry type of season this year. He is off to a great start, I watched the game film several times, and was very impressed with the way that Ross started to run with authority in the 2nd half. I'm pulling for Lydell, I hope that he can quiet all the naysayers.
