G/F Evan "The Villain" Turner (2010 Naismith Winner)

Scout.com$ (Wake site)

6/29/06

NBA camp scouting reports......Turner didn't get a ton of touches at the camp, his squad apparently played selfish basketball. Reportedly has narrowed his list to Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Duke and Florida.

My take: Illinois is the leader at this point, Ohio State is in good shape in my opinion, the longer it goes, the better our chances are. Turner has been hoping for an offer from Duke, they told him early this summer they would evaluate him in August at the ABCD camp. Florida seems like a longshot due to lack of room/scholies. Iowa and Wisconsin seem like longer shots to me.

Evan Turner is a buckeye! (according to the scout network, no article yet)

:oh: :io:

good call cbf40
I just have that gut feeling about this recruitment that it might just turn out in a good way for us.
That's not what I've heard. I've heard this is pretty much a Wisconsin v. Illinois battle royale as of right now until possibly some other elite program throws their hat in the ring. Ohio State is bringing in Cook and Lighty in 2006, and that's plenty enough swingmen to deter 2007 swingman Evan Turner from giving Ohio State much of a second thought. I think in the 2007 class you guys are talking about 4's and 5's with Othello Hunter being a JUCO and Greg Oden inevitably a very early entrant to the NBA draft.

I don't know which of these 2 classes is more amazing!

In my opinion, the 2006 class is better just because of Oden. 2 consecutive top 5 classes and Matta is on his way to collecting another top 5 class in 2008.

I love Turner's game, he is versatile and will play multiple positions. What I like the most is that he is very unselfish, loves playing team basketball and that will fit in well with the other recruits of 06 and 07. In my opinion, he is just behind Koufos in talent.

Oops, my bad. Congratulations. Never doubt Thad the recruiting Impaler I guess. He could sell swamp land to a person looking to build a house.
all in good fun bernini... you guys won in FB with Oglesby and probably Clay as well.

The 06 class is definitely better, but its more impresive to land this kind of talent with so much competition for PT.
I hope he sticks... I'm a bit worried if he verbaled because he might lose his spot...
I'm not... I like Turner better than Tyus, and I believe Matta got his guy (assuming this ends Tyus' recruitment).

How about the fact it was 6/29/05 when Oden and Conley announced?

I can only imagine the turmoil on the Illinois boards...it must be in full on Wake-Forrest-circa-June-of-2005 meltdown mode right now.
