Evans High School (Georgia) five-star offensive tackle Mason Short is only a sophomore, but he already holds offers from some of the nation's top college football programs.

Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee are just a few of the schools who have extended him a scholarship.

And for good reason.

Short is rated the nation's No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 28 overall prospect in the class of 2025.

This weekend, the 6-foot-7, 280-pound tackle took an unofficial visit to Ohio State - a return trip - and came away impressed.

"This time I got to bring my whole family to see the facilities and to meet the coaches," Short said. "They all loved it, especially getting to see the stadium, Me and my momma hyped how big it was to them. It definitely met their expectations."

That said, yesterday offensive line coach Justin Frye was on the road and made a stop in Evans, Georgia. Taking time to visit with the head coach at Evans, Frye was likely there to talk about 2025 offensive tackle target, Mason Short. A 6-foot-7, 280 pound sophomore, Short is already one of the top players in the country regardless of position and it makes sense when you consider his size.

The No. 28 player nationally, Short is already considered to be the third best tackle in the class and the fourth best player from Georgia in 2025 all per the 247Sports Composite. Already nearing 20 offers to his name from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and a host of others, it’s pretty easy to see why the Buckeyes jumped in this recruitment as early as they did.

Alabama Lands Commitment From 2025 OL Mason Short​

Nick Saban and Alabama land a commitment from 4-star OL Mason Short, a consensus top 300 player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Alabama picked up its second commit of the 2025 recruiting class on Sunday afternoon as Mason Short, a 4-star offensive lineman from Evans High School in Evans, Ga., committed to the Crimson Tide.

Short, listed at 6'6 300 pounds, committed to the Crimson Tide over Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Florida State.

Mason Short visited Alabama during Junior Day on January 28. Short also visited Florida on the first weekend in March, Florida State on March 11, and Tennessee on March 25.
