GA QB Dylan Raiola (Nebraska Signee)

I’ve watched Dylan a couple times and I’ll be honest I’m not sure he looks like the #1 recruit in the nation. I’m not talking negatively against him, but I’ve seen better QBs in high school over the years.

I know he’s a year behind Dylan, but this opens things up for Ryan Montgomery. I like the fact he’s from Ohio, he’s mobile enough, and has a live arm.

NIL is not an unreasonable take the HC and AD have been talking to the media about it just within days of a change of mind. He was never “committed”.
I am actually at peace with this one. It gives us time to replace, and if it wasn't a great fit for whatever reason, money, family, competition or other, it is most important for OSU to get players who actually want to be there.

I definitely think OSU's O clicks better with a mobile QB.

I love having those who want to be here. I’m content with that but if you want NCs you have to recruit the elite with a different motivation.

I'd have to imagine USC?

That said I'm mixed on this one. Obviously the guy has a very live arm but on the other hand he's a pretty big kid. He'll probably get even bigger considering his dad was an OL too.

Just depends what he does. If he balloons up to 260 then yeah probably is better off somewhere else but if he keeps himself between 225-235 he'll be fine.

It’s not even fun following recruiting anymore. This stuff is getting really old.
Recruiting has always been like this. It's never been fun. Charles Woodson, Curtis Enis, Shawn Crable, Stanley McClover, Fred Davis, Justin "JT" Turner, Tajh Boyd, Jackson Carman, SEC stealing recruits, bagmen, Prop 48, Signing Day o-fers every year under Tressel. I could on (and on and on and on) but you get the point....

I guess that recruiting is fun only when you steal 5-star Vonn Bell from Bama on Signing Day, or when you get a late unexpected commitment from 5-star Nicholas Petit-Frere (after "losing" in-state 5-star Jacskon Carman to Clemson), or when 5-star Terrelle Pryor plays games with the Penn State staff and fans only to sign with Ohio State, or when the entire Buckeye coaching staff shows up at the airport in Hawaiian shirts to welcome 5-star JT Tuimoloau to Columbus, or when you sign a top-5 class nearly every year.

Recruiting is drama, always has been, always will be. You either like drama or you don't.
Give me Kienholz all day here. Not only is he an athletic freak, he committed knowing the #1 QB in 2024 was coming behind him. That’s a balls on table move……

Or Ewers transferring out when we landed Devin Brown....
I don't know much about Kienholz but he is certainly athletic. Personally, I think that Devin Brown will be the "next big thing" at Ohio State, maybe Joe Burrow 2.0 (except that we hang onto this newer version, I hope....).

I don’t think USC, as Lincoln really likes mobility in a QB. I think Baker Mayfield is the least mobile QB he’s had and Raiola makes Baker look like Lamar Jackson in terms of movement.

Reilly is also quick to jump on transfer portal so there will be hesitancy around that.

I’ll be curious to see where he lands but I’d expect much more of a pro-style system….maybe that ends up being Nebraska with dad and Rhule but who knows….

Brock Glenn wasn’t a threat to him.

Lincoln Kienholz is….especially bc of Kienholz’s mobility which Raiola doesn’t have. If it’s a battle of talented arms, Raiola wins. If it’s a battle over who will be the better college QB, I don’t think it’s very close.

Give me Kienholz all day here. Not only is he an athletic freak, he committed knowing the #1 QB in 2024 was coming behind him. That’s a balls on table move……not unlike Fields committing to OSU when Tate Martell thought the job was his.

Or Ewers transferring out when we landed Devin Brown and he saw he wasn’t gonna touch CJ Stroud either. And Ewers hasn’t been very good….

Sometimes you just know.

This may read like copium but I agree, the more I watch/read.

No doubt Raiola can be great wherever he goes, but with Brown and Kienholz…think we’re set for a long time.
