Started reading the books last week. Almost finished with the second one. Amazing how everything matches so well so far. Even the dialog is almost identical. Couldn't stand waiting over five years to find out how it all goes down.

Yeah, I got to the fifth book (haven't started reading yet, not out in paperback so the person I borrowed them from hasn't purchased it yet and I haven't gotten around to going to the library) and I really wish I waited another decade to start since it is going to take so long to get the last however many books out.

The whole purpose of reading the books was to watch the series, however, so I look forward to that whenever I get it on DVD- probably Christmas.

Finished the books. Outstanding. So many ways it could end. I think the big internet fanboy theory is true. Started over. On the second book for the second time. Really looking forward to reading A Storm of Swords again. I think the next two seasons will be amongst the best two seasons of any show in tv history since aSoS's will be split into seasons 3 & 4. Can't fuckin' wait.

I hadn't heard that, but I'm glad they're doing it that way. I really couldn't think of any way they could fit everything from that book into ten episodes.

I am on to the 4th book and agree the 3rd was amazing. The last 300 pages or so I could not put the book down.

For those who dont know, HBO is airing every single episode starting this Saturday. My DVR is going to be in overdrive.

A Game of Thrones Convention / Festival near Columbus

This Game of Thrones Convention is located closest to the city of Columbus.

It is called Ice and Fire Con and is the only fan based ASOFAI or GoTs convention that I've seen in America and it is a not-for-profit convention. April 26-28, 2013. Tickets are limited.

And I know that GRRM said he'd be able to go to it if it is still around in two years and first year attendees get first chance at tickets that year (I know he must be really busy right now and those that go the first year get first chance at tickets that year).

Websites include: http://iceandfireconvention.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/139230319556617/

There is a long blog about it here: http://ageeksaga.blogspot.com/2012/09/a-convention-of-ice-fire.html
THE ICE & FIRE CONVENTION is being held at Ravenwood Castle in south-central-ish Ohio, FRIDAY APRIL 26th ? SUNDAY APRIL 28th. Yes panels and accommodations are in the Castle and castle cottages. We are planning photoshoots, a mock Westeros election, several panels, a mini-tournament, a gaming night, medieval lunch, high teas, feast and costume contest, actually many contests for awesome prizes. :) All completely ASOIAF-related, of course.
There will be three price tiers for tickets (two of which include a meal or meal; castle rooms are pretty affordable and include breakfast.
