Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

I still say the Texas offense will surprise alot of people, probaly alot of tOSU fans.
QB- edge tOSU
OL- edge Texas
WR- close, but edge Texas
RB - even
TE- Texas (2 with game experience, and a RS freshman freak of nature who I promise will make an impact in the game.

QB - edge OSU? GTFOH. We have a bonafide Heisman candidate who was the 4th-rated QB in all of college football last year, and who is a 5th year senior. You have two freshman QBs who have yet to take a single snap in college. And we just have an edge?
OL - even
WR - close, but edge OSU. We have another bonafide Heisman candidate in Ginn, and our new #2 (Gonzales, who is actually faster than Ginn in the 40) didn't play as much last year only because we had the #1 WR in the draft on the field ahead of him.
RB- close, but edge OSU. Antonio Pittman had more yards than your top two returning RBs (Jamaal Charles and Selvin Young...not counting Ramonce Taylor since it appears he won't be "available"). We have the #1 RB out of high school coming in, and he showed in the spring game that he can already hang with the big boys.
TE - Texas. I'm not sure how recovered our main TE Rory Nicol is, so I'll defer this to Texas.

Then why didn't he use "edge" when comparing TEs? There, he simply said "Texas". The way some UT fans are talking up Snead...

Well, maybe he just got tired of typing Edge. Hell if I know. Maybe you're right. If he did say "edge" (in a minimalistic way) comparing Smith to Texas' Freshman, then I think you can throw the rest of the analysis out the damn window.

I think our toughest games this year, in no particular order will be:

@ Texas
@ Iowa
and of course M*chigan

You forgot whoever your Rose Bowl opponent will be. Probably Cal or USC. The Rose will be very excited to have tOSU after going 11-1, winning 10 straight, and winning the Big 10.:wink2:

No GOTP's right now. That's a home computer activity. Sorry it's been so long, folks.

If the loss of Vince young (1person) and the maturing of Troy Smith (1person) is going to completley change the outcome of the game, then by all means explain to me how the loss of 9 (NINE) starters on defense gives you so much confidence, and don't give that B.S about replacements having some experience. Texas will have 8 (eight) starters on defense, so you know what,,, Troy Smith dang well better be improved, or he's going to be running backwards all day.

P.S. The tight end position, that you pass off so easy, cost you the game last year, and Texas is LOADED at TE. >>>>>Remember this name Jermichal Finley.

P.S. Don't even bring team speed to the table against Texas, we are a fr--king olympic track team.

P.s I didn't even mention kicking game,,,, If you rush our punter, you better be sure and get him,,, he's the second fastest guy on our team.

Couldnt agree more. I think if the game comes down to the QBs, tOSU wins. Its going to be tough to replace Nick Mangold though, he was a great leader...as was, Aj, Anthony, Bobby, and Santonio. It still pains me to say those names and not to see them play in a Buckeye uniform again. :(

You are kidding about RB right? I certainly hope you are. Jamaal Charles has also been listed as a "bonafide Heisman candidate."

Antonio Pittman: 243 carries, 1331 yards, 5.48 yds/car., 110.92 yds/gm
Jamaal Charles: 119 carries, 878 yards, 7.38 yds/car., 67.54 yds./gm

-If you can't see the difference between those stats, then there really isn't anything that I can say or bring up that will change your mind. Who knows how many yards Charles would have gotten had he gotten 243 carries like Pittman?
-Funny how you bring up Chris Wells. You fault Texas for having "two freshman QBs who have yet to take a single snap in college", but for Wells just because he is the #1 RB recruit in the nation and had a good spring he "can hang with the big boys." Give me a break dude? Our freshman QBs showed in the spring game that they also can hang with the big boys. Please, just drop the homerism.

-Just out of curiosity, does Ginn still avg. 1 TD for every like 7/8 touches?

You mean the same Jamaal Charles whose ass was stuffed to the tune of 26 yards on 10 carries in The Shoe (with 12 of those yard coming on one carry, meaning he went 9 carries for 14 yards the rest of the night)? Right. Let's see how good he is this year when opposing defenses aren't back on their heels because of a Vince Young. News flash: defenses will be keying on the run, challenging your frosh QBs to beat them with their arms...

I've already explained how our defense will reload until I'm blue in the face. If you want to read what I've said, go back through this thread...I'm sure you find my comments on our defense soon, seeing as I've had to post them every 3 or 4 pages... :roll1:

With that argument, looks like Ginn isn't going to be doing much of anything again this year...
News flash: you don't have your most accomplished WR anymore!

There's no correlation between Vince Young's uncanny scrambling ability opening up the running for his running backs, and Santonio Holmes' presence taking away plays from Ginn. The loss of Young hurts your running backs, while the loss of Holmes only provides more opportunities for Ginn and other WRs.

On a side note, anyone else notice that our two logical, reasonable, and articulate Texas guests (EngineerHorn and High Lonesome) have fairly generic monikers, whist our two new "guests" who get all bent out of shape if we don't bow down to mighty Texas (inVINCEable and UTMNC) have bandwagon-ish monikers?
