except wilson chandler and eddie curry are garbage. there is nobody on the knicks current roster that is close to comparable to rondo or perkins at the time.

Just wanted to point out that Rondo '08 wasn't even in the same zip code as Rondo '10. Same goes for Perkins.

I see...those 10 points a game he averaged as a rookie had the world on the edge of their seat. Combined with the 22 wins he had as a rookie, people thought he was a future all-star.

Kendrick Perkins has been a Celtic since 2003 and his caeer wasn't anything to write home about. Wilson Chandler has been significantly more productive in his first 3 NBA seasons than Perkins was.

Toney Douglas averaged 8 points a game as a rookie in 20 mpg. Rondo averaged 10 in 29 mpg.

Being on a terrible team doesn't help your reputation. Maybe Toney Douglas and Wilson Chandler are effective when surrounded by talent.

And I'm assuming it will be 3 stars, as most New Yorkers feel they can unload Curry at some point in the off-season once the dominos have landed.

Is it really that hard to see a team taking on an 11Mil contract to open up space for 2011-2012? It happens every year. This is the exact reason some think Tony Parker might get traded to the Knicks.

His contract matches Eddie Curry's, he's a free agent at the end of next season, George Hill is young and upcoming, and they would like to resign Tim Duncan at the end of next year, and have enough money to pair another guy with Duncan and Ginobli for one last hurrah.

I still don't think Tony Parker gets traded to the Knicks, but this is the type of scenario that will likely allow the Knicks to unload 11 mil of dead weight, and add a very good player in the process.

It's possible to move Curry for a good player if you find a team willing to take it up the ass, but usually you have to give up something of quality to get something. When you want to give up nothing you end up with guys like Shaq, Jamison, etc. Pretty much every deal for expiring contracts also involves a young player or a draft pick, which the Knicks don't have to give. Boston had a lot more to work with then they pulled together the big 3.

no. don't you know teams are going to be lining up to hand out cap welfare to the knicks to perpetuate their deserved basketball dynasty. The Shaq deal happened because cleveland was saving PHX upwards of $20 million with the luxury tax. Washington was having a fire sale to start all over. In neither trade did any team part with what was thought to be a major impact player for simple cap savings, let alone only $11 million.

and the fact still remains that the celtics had 3 major players and a good supporting cast. At the end of the day, the knicks will have 2 and a pile of turds.
