Gameplanning against LSU

sandgk

I think we should run at Dorsey for at least 2 reasons. I think it will nuetralize him as a passrusher. I know Pelini will scheme for it and have a plan in case that happens but it will slow his pass rush down. Lets see if hes 100% yet...it won't take long to find out.

As far as Wilson is concerned his prognosis was 6-8 weeks. IMO the coaches were saving him as a precaution. Maybe this year the 50 days will help rather than hurt.

I get better press coverage since I live in the south. Whenever they are interviewed they seem pretty cocky and smug to me. The talk down here is that the Buckeyes are a butt-kickin away from their second title...some people here think the score is gonna be 40-50 points for LSU and no more than 7-10 for the Buckeyes...I'm not exaggerating

I don't know who you're talking to, but #1, either they aren't sober or #2 they don't know much about college football. Perhaps it's a combination of numbers 1 & 2.

^ Its called Birmingham Aabama. The SEC fans here no jack and shit when it comes to CFB. They know SEC and thats it. Typical SEC fans...nothing more nothing less. When I state the B10 has a better bowl record this decade versus the SEC they stare at me like I gave them a simple math problem...only 25% of alabama goes to some form of college...that should tell you something. Some people call it the bible belt...I call it the idiot belt.

What is the big fuss about doucet? He hasn't really accomplished a whole lot in his time at LSU. Sure, he's been injured but when he does play I don't recall a lot of high light real catches etc etc. When I hear his name I think "Oh snap he's the shit" then my actual senses kick in and I think "why do I think he's so good??". I don't know how but somehow Malcom Jenkins' name isn't as well known as it should be. IMO not having him in the Thorpe award is a joke because he rarely gets tested RARELY. I think this is because Jenkin's does spectacular job taking away his man.

IMO LSU fans will be more impressed with Jenkins than anyone else. I also think they'll be surprised by Washington/Chikwa too. I'm not saying we'll dominate and shut them down but rather I feel most LSU guys so far are expecting too much via the pass. I do however feel like our defense will concentrate on Hester/Flynn more than anything else. so maybe the pass will be open? who knows, I guess we'll see

i dunno, i love jenkins, but there have been a few instances where he's been taken to the woodshed this year (i remember beckum made him look pretty bad on a few occasions). acting like it's a given that he'll shut down doucet is probably a little too assumptive.

and that's even if we end up playing man to man. i'm not going to be a happy camper if we go to that 3-3-5 crap very often

Doucet is the classic gamer. It is not the volume of catchs, it is when he catches and the situation. He is awesome when the pressure of the game is on. Honestly, this year's injury has hurt his senior year.

We need to mix some things up against LSU

I want to see some Saine in the backfield alongside Beanie. I want some screens or deep balls to Small. But most importantly, I WANT TO SEE SOME QB DRAWS ON THIRD AND MEDIUM. I think that would be huge for us. We all know Todd has some mobility, and putting him in the gun with a TE and back and having him run right up the gut would be a perfect wrinkle in our gameplan. Does anyone have Coach Tressel's number?

I tend not to like gadget offenses. I really dont like the idea to convert our offense into a wingT or hybrid option against a defense like LSU. That sounds like a sure way to make our team look like a joke in a big game.

I think if OSU wants to beat LSU they will have to come up with something unconventional. If I were Tressel, I'd put in quite a few direct snap plays to my best athlete. LSU has shown, this yr, to have lots of trouble with mobile QB. OSU will not be able to simply line up and pound Beanie a few times and go deep. This is exactly what LSU is going to focus on stopping. The key for OSU would be to come out with something LSU is not expecting.

Tressell is notorious for doing the unexpected in the big games. Usually he uses them all against scUM but this year's game was different and he pounded the game away after we got up but 2 scores. If saine and small have the right mindset they will probably be the ones tress uses the most for tweaks. Losing Ginn early hurt alot of those "gimmicky" plays and streching the field because i feel that tress had him in alot of sets. Plus Tress used alot of tweaks against Miles the first time he beat him after we didnt use them all year. So be expecting the unexpected because Tress has em tucked away and has 40 days to work on them.

Well, teddy is homesick for OSU... slap a black visor on his helmet and suit him up as Small, think anyone will notice?

i'd be homesick as well if I was on the dolphins.

as far as beating LSU, they are a good team, but coaching mistakes(and brilliance) at times can cost them. Tressel once said the punt is the most important play in football, we need to accomplish that in an effective way.

as far as watching tape goes, watch how the Arkansas line set up and watch Dorsey tapes from earlier when he was healthier.

I can't take a loss. I cannot put up with these SEC people down here in Florida. Something has to give.

Ok, Les Miles is probably the most underrated coach in the SEC right now. Everyone assumes he is winning with "superior" talent. Talent can only get you so far. If anyone doubts his ability to coach, look at the SEC championship game. That is probably one of the best coaching jobs I have seen in a long time. The difference between Tressel, Tuberville, Saban, Spurrier and Miles is not that great.
