Geico's Cavemen To Get Pilot...

JoJaBuckeye

First we take Michigan--then the whole world!
Why Geico's Cavemen Are Getting a TV Pilot (WSJ)

ABC's plan for a pilot based on Geico's cavemen highlights the blurring line between ads and entertainment. A spokeswoman for the ABC Television Studio, which will produce the pilot, said no executive would speak about the project because "it's way too premature to comment." She cautioned that there is no guarantee "Cavemen" will result in a prime-time show.

I can see where there might be possibilities. But a Geico-based show sprinkled with Geico commercials would definitely bomb. If it were me, and the show succeeded, I'd take the royalties and run.

If they just acted out some of the claim reports, there would be plenty of material for a show. The woman who claimed that the government and extraterrestrials were spying on her and stealing her cars would work pretty well, as would the numerous reports of light poles and fire hydrants jumping into the street to hit cars.

Maybe Tibor can explain why half of all car accidents seem to result in spleen damage. What's the deal? Are spleens that fragile?

Agreed. I like the idea though. If they could do it without it being a 30-minute Geico commercial, I think it could be funny for a while at least.

Yeah..watching Og get his first digital prostate exam would be priceless.

"Ok...you're going to feel a little pressure...."

Followed by Og tearing the place up with his club.

Think of the possibilities.

First hummer...the look on Og's face.
Dressed for basketball....Og breaks the backboard.
Og goes to the zoo...and all the monkeys watch him.
A new deodorant just for cavemen...designed as a biocide.
New rule in school: Cave kids are not allowed to groom each other.

No, that would be the "Baby Bob" show on CBS a few years ago. That was easily one of the 5 worst shows I've ever seen.

I don't know, I think ABC is desperate for a sitcom vehicle that is actually funny. Of course, a sitcom centered around the Geico commercial cavemen wouldn't be very funny, but that shouldn't stop ABC. After all, this is the same network that dedicated 15 seconds of commentary following every 1st down running play or change of possession in the 2006 Rose Bowl to pimp Emily's Reasons Why Not and Jake ... In Progress. For good measure, they destroyed Boston Legal and Lost, and play musical time slots with Grey's Anatomy.

It's really quite sad that FOX might have the funniest show on TV now with Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
