Sorry, Thomps, I'm tired of hearing about those wild and wacky all world studs and USC being the greatest team since Alexander rallied the troops to take over nearly the whole known world.

Hopefully defense really does win championships, because I think Texas' D is slightly better than SC's. Not looking at the stats because I don't have time at the moment. Maybe my gut instinct assessment is incorrect.

I loved Mack Brown thanking the media, saying he doesn't even need a pregame speech.

Sadly, I dont' think the texas D is quite as good as they were on the 10th. They still will be good, but they have some holes in their rush D (as exemplified by OkState, aTm). I'm worried that usc will not struggle like we hope.

However, I think USC's D is gonna be missing a lot of tackles on Mr Young.

I'm pulling for Texas for the same reason I root against ND and the 02 Miami team: Hype.

AJ Hawk said that the Bucks got tired of reading about what Weiss would do with four weeks to get ready. I've read/heard that the Texas team is upset at all the hype USC is getting.

Lost in all of this is the bogus claim that this is for a three straight NC.... I bet that sets really well with LSU fans. As I recall, the winner of the BCS National Championship Game is the National Champ. I only see one of those crystal footballs in the USC trophy case.

I feel another 02 experience coming up.

Oh Jesus H Christ, LET IT GO! The rest of the college football world not located in Louisiana has moved on, you should join us. Are you saying that the AP title is meaningless? So you're suggesting that Ohio State has only ever won one national championship? The one where they got a crystal football in Tempe in 2003?

I seem to remember the AP crowning the Buckeyes champs in '42, '54, and '68 also. Please tell me those still count!!!! :roll2:

Yeah, of course they count, because that's from the pre-BCS era. :roll2: After the AP joined the BCS system (and even after they left "on principle") theirs became a second-rate NC. It's not a "national title", it's an "AP national title".

Cinci is BY FAR not the only non-Louisianan who still remembers USC did not win the BCS championship in 2004.

But as for this thread, Go Horns!

I think USC got screwed out of the bcs in 03, but why do they get preferential treatment? Heck, they lost a game that year, unlike auburn last year.

What about now? The ap poll is not even used in the bcs. Should they be allowed to award their own winner? Take this year for example, hypothetically Mr. Carr does not get his extra seconds on the clock, and PSU goes undefeated... and slaughters FSU while the Rose Bowl is ugly, with UT on top.

What if the AP poll chose PSU as #1? I can imagine the uproar now...
