you MUST play this game. it is amazing. i cant even describe how great it is except by saying you will see tits and have a 3some in the first few levels (not that video game tits do it for me....but how cool is that to have in a video game).

you are a Spartan who is trying to kill Ares, the God of War. the cut scenes are just amazing.....and the game play is incredible.

this is the highest rated game i've seen come out in a long time (aside from the GTA titles), i've read part of the review, and seen the screenshots, plus the TV commercial is BADASS........so it appears that worth buying is a no brainer, unless you're like me and have gamefly and you can play it til you beat it and send it back

***and to compensate for BN27's lazy ass

here is the review from gamespot, my favorite ranking site, it got a 9.3

IGN gave it 9.8, and gamespy gave it 5 out of 5 stars.........excerpt from Gamespy

It doesn't happen often, but every now and then a game is released that's so outstanding that all kinds of gamers must play it regardless of their genre preferences. God of War, Sony's latest first-party action game, fits into this rare category. Gameplay, graphics, story, or production, this modern take on Greek mythology is a fantastic experience. In fact, God of War is the best thing to happen to Greek mythology since Harry Hamlin donned a tunic and fought claymation monsters as Perseus in Clash of the Titans. Gamers would be doing themselves a severe disservice by passing over this stellar game.

well i finally played this game, and i'm almost done with it...........either it's a pretty short game, or i'm just so into it, it's flying by

anyways, this game is just plain awesome........the graphics, gameplay, the weapons, the enemies, the way the gods are mixed into the storyline and the roles they play in the game.........some of the scenery is just INCREDIBLE..........anyway it is a very heavy and intense combat game for those that aren't fans of that style of gameplay........you don't have to be an expert though, you can get away with just mashing buttons..........thought i'd give my first hand impressions, and it is all it's cracked up to be..........i even think it was better and more stunning than i thought it would be...............oh yeah it has tits in it too, and that fact in itself makes it a great game ~sarcasm~<SARCASM>

It was a great game, but it was a bit too short. I beat it in eight hours the first time through, but the replay value of an awesome eight hour game is kind of nice.. I mean, you can play through it a bunch of times, unlike a Final Fantasy, where you do it maybe once or twice. Loved it.

I don't see myself playing God Mode all the way through. The first boss, the Hydra, took me about an hour to beat on God mode. I can't imagine what the final boss would be like...

8 hours is extremely short... I don't think its a redeeming quality that b/c its so short you can play thru it many times... for comparison's sake you can easily spend 60-100 hours playing Knights of the Old Republic, and go back and take a totally different approach the next time.

does it have varying storylines that you can explore each time you replay it?

My KOTOR games were all well under 30 hours, some even under 20 and I did almost everything. You're insane, winslow. :)

My point wasn't that I like short games (I don't necessarily -- I think 20-30 hours is the perfect game length), but that it's kind of unique. It does feel short, but the replay value is so high (there's so many "holy shit" moments that you want to see again) that it's worth playing through again. It takes me back to the days of having a friend over on a day after school and BEATING, not just playing, River City Ransom. I'm not saying that I wouldn't rather it be a longer game, but in this case, it works. A game nobody has ever heard of called 'Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy' is awesome and it's the same way. You can beat it with two days of a couple of hours apiece and I've probably beaten it 4 times since I've gotten it. Same with the PS2 Prince of Persias (love 'em). Sometimes, it's nice to not have to be engaged in a game like an RPG. You play it for a few days, beat it, and it was a nice little tight package, instead of being a huge game that you really have to think about.

Plus, in GoW, the hard modes probably take at least 15 hours to beat, I'd guess, because the enemies are tougher and take more hits. You have to be smarter than just mashing buttons, so there you go, replay. It's like beating ANY Capcom game for the SNES and being told "Please try on a harder level!" :) I'd prefer it as a 20 hour game, but it works in this case.. Metal Gear Solid 3 probably wouldn't, on the flip side, and I like that even better. Does that make sense, bro?

well, i did actually beat it over the weekend and watched all the "making of" type videos that you unlock once you beat it..............this hadn't occured to me, but i'd like to point out: this game took 3 years to make..........when you consider all of the STUNNING visuals, the time, detail, and dedication it took to produce such a high quality product, there were things that were left out, that they simply didn't have time or the resources to finish...........they showed some deleted levels, and such, and explained that they didn't have time to complete them and put them in the game, and instead decided to focus on perfecting what they did have

one of the coolest things about those videos is the one about the monsters and the early sketches of Aries..........i thought the early Aries was much sicker than the one in the game
