Google Warning in RR Thread (bad linked in image)

  • Tried to post this in the "advertisements" thread, but for some reason I just can't get a post to work there.
Last night when I clicked on the "Funny Pictures" thread in the Romper Room, THIS little gem came up.
It happened using Chrome in both Windows and Linux. I didn't get any similar messages however when using Firefox in either O.S.
Has anyone else seen something like this?

You are getting that warning because Chrome references the Google mothership for all it's browsing data, and Google has flagged planetsmilies.net as having hosted malware in the past 90 days.

    See here: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=planetsmilies.net/

That message is not because of BP. It is because somebody cross-posted an image in that thread with an image hosted at planetsmilies.net.

What Dryden said. When you get that message, it's because someone has linked in an image from a bad (or recently compromised) site. Doesn't mean there's anything on BP, so I'm going to edit your thread title lest folks misunderstand.

This happens several times a year, perhaps dozens. Just means I have to go in and find and edit the post in order to delete the offending link -- which I have done. You shouldn't get the same warning in that thread anymore.

I've been trying to avoid this, but at some point I may just have to block image links from outside sources entirely.

What do you mean when you say you can't get a post to work in the Advertisements thread? What, exactly, doesn't work for you? Can't be a permissions problem, you were able to post in this node. Not sure what else would be causing a problem.

No big deal......if you remember a week or so ago, I mentioned that I couldn't get a post to go in the advertisements thread. I tried in Chrome and Firefox in both Windows and Linux, and it just wouldn't go. Almost like my computer freezes. The really strange part is that I could post from my phone (Firefox on android 4.1.2) but after I posted, I could edit the post from any browser or O.S. from my laptop. Just some strange little glitch that only happens in that thread.Everywhere else on the entire site everything works great. I believe we discussed it for a minute back in the ads thread. Sorry if you thought I was being sarcastic, that wasn't my intention at all C.!

Didn't think that at all, I completely remember now. Been struggling on the health front the last week or so and I just flat forgot about that convo.

Either way, that image link that caused the warning was deleted. Thanks for the heads up.

    ah, I see. Thanks
No problem. To be honest, it's a damn good deal. Haven't messed with it much in a while other than the "A Song of Ice and Fire" spoiler filled discussion. Used to be a thread where people would post username/password combos to just about every xxx site on the web. Also, if there's a celeb with nudes out there, it's in there. Best $25...or is it $20...I ever spent.
