Hurricane Wilma has canceled the Georgia Tech-Miami game and moved the Tulane-Central Florida game to Friday night.
Georgia Tech and Miami were scheduled to play Saturday on ABC, but ACC commissioner John Swofford said the game would be rescheduled on a later date. "If [Wilma] stays on its current path, it will have a direct affect on the safety of numerous student-athletes, institutional personnel, fans and Florida residents," Swofford said. "Our top priority is the issue of public safety for everyone, and we would not want a college football game to interfere with the preparation work to be done by the public safety and emergency personnel."

Actually, they should have said the game is "postponed", not "canceled". Postponed means delayed until a later time. Canceled means no longer scheduled. Sheesh, doesn't anyone know basic English anymore?

Funny, it looks like Wilma isn't even going to make it to Miami until Monday now. Anyone else think they jumped the gun on this one?

After Katrina everyone is cautious - wisely so. Besides, with a Monday landfall the evacuations could begin today and go throughout the weekend. Finally, they've changed their minds at the weather services before, as with Katrina when it jumped up in strength instead of weakening as originally expected.

So, in a word - No.
