I picked up the game last night and played for a couple of hours in single player campaign mode, haven't tried online yet. As expected the graphics are much improved but the gameplay seems about the same so far. They've added some new weapons, vehicles and a new category called "equipment" which include a bubble shield, trip mine and grav lift. I played the first two Halo's a lot so it was easy to jump back into things again and am enjoying the game so far.

But I think the longevity of this game will be the online play. Bungie seems to have put a tremendous amount of time and thought into making this the premier online FPS. There are so many game modes and options that I expect to be playing this online for many years to come. It's still too early for me to give a final review rating, but I'm pleased with what I've seen so far.

I played on XBox Live for the first time tonight, against a bunch of (what seemed to be) nerds who have mastered the game. Needless to say, I pretty much sucked at it. It was fun mocking all of the nerd talk via the headset
Did you use the Matchmaking mode that groups you with players of similar skill level? I haven't tried it in Halo 3 yet, but in other games that mode should keep you from playing against the hardcore fanboys. I'm a slow old guy (who's usually drunk when I play) and need to be matched with the other 'tards if I'm to last more than 5 seconds.

Played some 4 player co-op on Legendary the other day, great stuff (and it does make Legendary lots easier). Pretty impressed with this game, the filmmaking portion is a blast to mess with (taking screenshots, making movies, changing camera angles). This game, Gears, Call of Duty 4, Half Life, Guitar Hero 3 and Assassin's Creed are gonna keep me busy this year.

It's a fucking video game, who gives a fuck?
Then why are you posting in the game thread?

To answer you're stupid question, if I drop $70 bucks to play a game online, i would prefer not to be killed out of the walls. Its really no fun playing in a good or intense game, and then all the sudden someone decides, shit i suck i'm gonna get an automatic sniper and go chill in the sky above the map.. kind of ruins the entire purpose of the game.

Good question. That's almost as bad as someone calling himself xbox fanboy deluxe.

It's okay, go ahead and ask me for a date already.

EDIT: BTW, the moniker was given to me by a moderator on here, I just gladly put it up there to remind him.

I was playing at my friends house as a guest, we just kind of got thrown into the fire. I will definitely have to play under the matchmaking mode next time, maybe I'll find it more enjoyable!

Yep, that's a sure way to get toasted. I'm guessing you're friend is pretty good at the game?
