Always hated having to play his teams, never hated the man. Maybe the only rival Big Ten coach I ever respected more is Barry Alvarez because that was more in my timeline of CFB fandom.

The only time i ever disliked him is when he whined about crowd noise during the 85 game. I have spent enough time explaining why I don't think crowd noise was ever an issue for opposing QBs before the Jesse Owens track was removed (yes, the track had that name before they built the track stadium). Overall he was a good guy when he wasn't trying to handle the disappointment of losing the only #1 ranking he ever had. Happy trails Coach Fry. Tell Woody I said hi, and maybe ask him if you can get back that lunch money he took from you when you were SMU's coach.
