HB Dontre 'DeSoto' Wilson (Official Thread)

I was yelling at Braxton in that video to get rid of the ball. Is that bad?

Kid has some sweet wheels for sure. My favorite on the clip is the kickoff return vs Buffalo. He does the slightest little dip in the middle of the pack and then just busts out the other side. So nice.

I really think having an improved Jalin Marshall and/or Curtis Samuel (if he lives up to the billing) on the field this year will mean more big plays for Dontre. Make the defense worry about multiple guys in space, in addition to field stretchers like D. Smith, C. Smith, and maybe Clark/Dixon, and there is no way to focus on him too much.

Interesting indeed...I still think he gets at least 3-5 carries a game in some capacity but I am more than ok with him focusing on receiver and getting the ball in space.

Also interesting to hear UFM say that Josh Perry is one of the top 5 improved guys on the team...we need that big time.
Receivers do still sometimes get the ball in the backfield. I think he gets his 3 touches in that respect. It will be cool because he's more likely to get the ball in motion making his speed so much more dangerous. Plus now if he can catch and run his routes, he'll have a chance to get the ball more in the middle of the field later in the play after the defense has spread out. He's used to getting the ball in the first few seconds of the play and having the 4-5 guys close on his tail, he could get the ball and only have to make 1 or 2 guys miss to get some major yards. Getting him practicing with the receivers is huge in my mind.

Heard Coach Meyer mention jet sweeps after meeting with Clemson/aTm staffs. I suspect we'll see an increase there, along with reads/play action off them.

This. Wilson needs to be in space to be as dangerous as we'd like.
