HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Fire Parker Fleming and do something with the extra coaching spot (probably hire Laurinaitis full time).
Is it too much to ask for more than this? Fire him and kick him in his shins and plant an invasive weed in his yard that will grow sideways underground before ever growing up and revealing itself?

Frankly, I don’t give a fuck what he says in post game (or any other) press conferences. He has no obligation to be candid with the public and I don’t think he is.

Actions speak louder than words. He cleaned house where he needed to in ‘21 and got results. He needs to do that again now. If he doesn’t, my opinion will change drastically.
Yes, I guess we’ll see. Does he address the LJ issue, does he address the same Oline woes, Does he address Special Teams, does he really relinquish play calling. I could go on.

Tired of hearing the were going to look at everything comment and the blowing of smoke up everyone’s proverbial ass…

Last year Ohio State was a field goal away from winning a national championship, this year they were embarrassed, hopefully that gives Day the motivation to make the changes he needs to.

Let Corey Dennis’ contract expire and hire someone to be an actual QB coach and co-coordinate with Hartline so Day can give up play calling and focus on being the head coach.

Fire Parker Fleming and do something with the extra coaching spot (probably hire Laurinaitis full time).

Move LJ Sr to whatever Laurinaitis is doing now and hire a DL coach who knows how to text recruits and won’t actively fight against the scheme the coordinator wants to run.

Move on from Marroti and bring in some fresh ideas to the strength and conditioning staff.

He’s also got his work cut out for him figuring out the QB situation this off-season, obviously.
Fire Justin Fry and hire Steve Addazio as O-line coach.

Day college football is different now. You don’t hold all the cards . Players have been emancipated. They be been freed and paid the old system is dead…the sooner you realize it the better. You can’t make people stay or honor commitments that aren’t commitments.

I think he’s got 1 more year. At this point he needs to flop it out and prove he’s got the biggest at the table and make the changes where needed. Need a transfer portal QB. Relinquish play calling. Fire Fleming, Frye, Dennis and get a transition plan for LJ. Get JL on staff full time, hire Joe Rudolph as OL coach and a young, dynamic QB Coach who played the freaking position.
1 more year? I'll give you the preview: we go through the schedule undefeated or 1 loss, then get pantsed by scUM and whoever we play in the bowl. Yay. Fun.

Sooo it's clear when you look at the coaching staff, ages, experience etc .....Day needs more veteran voices on the offensive side of the ball... its glaring the YOUNGEST guy on D would be the 2nd OLDEST on the Offensive side of the ball...

Coach - age - relative coaching experience .

Defense:
Eliano - 45 - coaching 03, FBS 16
Walton - 52 - coaching 96, NFL 09-21
Knowles - 58 - long f’in time
LJSr - 71 - long f’in time

Offense:
Alford - 55 - long f’ing time
Frye - 40 - coaching FBS 13, OL UCLA 18-21
Dennis - 31 - coaching 2020
Hartline - 37 - coaching since 18
Bailey - 28 - coaching since 23

Special Teams:
Fleming - 35 - coaching FCS 14

As I said in my previous post, they were a field goal away from beating defending champions Georgia. It’s understandable why he felt incremental changes might be enough from ‘22 to ‘23.

In ‘21 he cleaned house on defense like he needed to.
Moral Victory is getting farther in rearview mirror. It’s almost like the Bears still celebrating 1985.

Well at least he wins games he should win. It’s not like previous coaches weren’t getting blown out in games that we had a decisive talent advantage.

At some point you have to start winning the more even matched games though. Ohio State shouldn’t be keeping a coach just because he doesn’t lose to the Maryland and Rutgers of the world
