HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning.

We all have relied heavily on Urban's ability to scope out player talent, develop it, and see the successes based on that talent.
While there may be some sort of drop off, I've decided to translate the same belief in Urban's ability to what he sees with Coach Day. If Urban considers him elite, then as far as I'm concerned he is. It's not as though Ryan's an unproven commodity across the board. Urban's seen him for two years. We've all heard about the 2-year minimum in the assistant coaches contracts. It's the shit or get off of the pot time. This 2-year situation just led to a greater change than expected.

Best of luck Coach Day on driving tOSU train.

“To the high school coaches in Ohio: We have the best coaches and some of the best high school programs in all of America here at Ohio,” he said. “And it will continue to be our first priority to recruit Ohio football players. Every young football player in the state of Ohio should dream about one day becoming a Buckeye. And it’s our staff’s responsibility to make sure we recruit them at the highest level.”

Is @BUCKYLE actually Ryan Day? Seems to share the “Ohio kid-Special powers” thinking.

Matt Campbell would have been a good hire but recruiting would be more of a concern. But Ryan Day has an impressive resume too so I struggle with criticizing it — at all, really.

Day just orchestrated a historically good offense and developed/unleashed the full potential of a really talented prospect in Haskins. I’m not sure there are a ton of coaches out there that could have just birthed a unit like that to the extent Day/Wilson did.

There are some questions to be answered: recruiting, defense and special teams. he’s proven that he’s wildly competent in what he was previously assigned.

I think Stud is standing and partially obscured in that pic; here's a better one:

How is stud in that photo twice?! Did stud go back in time with JCVD to manipulate stocks?!

On a serious note. Feeling a good buzz and it just hit me we have a 39 year old running the show who is an offensive wizard. If I'm Day I go and get the best defensive mind out there.

Ryan has a shot to be a great here. He has a ton of time left here and if he's successful could put his own footprint on this program.
