Your "estimates" from your online photo are dead on as I just check an "official" stripe that I've had packed away for years.

1/4, 1/2 and 1 (black, white, red).

It was hard to get the exact ratio of the stripe. I was able to find a picture of a real helmet on google images and measured from there to get the ratios right.

Awesome work on your piece.. I am sure he is going to love it.

I used similar ratios for this work

Black 1/4<<<Actual 1/6 of red stripe
White 1/2<<< Actual 3/8 of red stripe
Red 1<<<< 1/12 of wall size so 12' wall would mean 1' stripe

Apparently I am bringing this back from the dead.

It is good to hear everyone liked it. He was pretty excited about it as well. I am actually in the process of making another (for myself this time). I figured I would come in here and double check my numbers.

It's a good thing too because I've been wanting to paint my desk the colors/stripes of the helmet for some time now, and having these figures already done for me will be a great first step!! Thanks and again great job on your plaque!

Here is mine. Lt and I won't ever share another office so it doesn't matter if they are painted the same. :wink:

Here are two photos of the front. The back looks the same as the other one. Sorry the photos are kind of crappy, but they are in the kitchen w/fluorescent lighting.

I know about the spot on the left. That is where it was hanging from. I'll touch that up later on.

Hey, heres a question for everyone thats been painting their walls, plaques, and well basically everything they can... what kind of paint did you use to and where did you get it from? I'm looking to make the desk as real as possible so I've trying to find the shiny silver to really make it stand out, any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Bump for any suggestions as to where I can find the Buckeye helmet colors, otherwise I'll probably hit up Lowes later today and see if they can help me out, maybe I'll bring my miniature replica helmet along with me.
