What a load of shit this article is, no matter who you are or what your problem is somewhere, someone will make excuses for you.

My sister has a high IQ, isn't married and is 31. It's not because men aren't very interesting to her, it's because she's horribly selfish and emotionally mature as a 12 year old.
    What a crock.

Brainy women face handicap in marriage stakes: British survey

Sun Jan 2, 3:43 PM ET

LONDON (AFP) - A high IQ is a hindrance for women wanting to get married while it is an asset for men, according to a study by four British universities published in The Sunday Times newspaper.

    AFP/File Photo

The study found the likelihood of marriage increased by 35 percent for boys for each 16-point increase in IQ.

But for girls, there is a 40-percent drop for each 16-point rise, according to the survey by the universities of Aberdeen, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The study is based on the IQs of 900 men and women between their 10th and 40th birthdays.

"Women in their late 30s who have gone for careers after the first flush of university and who are among the brightest of their generation are finding that men are just not interesting enough," said psychologist and professor at Nottingham University Paul Brown in The Sunday Times.

Claire Rayner, writer and broadcaster, said in the article that intelligent men often prefered a less brainy partner.

"A chap with a high IQ is going to get a demanding job that is going to take up a lot of his energy and time. In many ways he wants a woman who is an old-fashioned wife and looks after the home, a copy of his mum in a way."

Maybe guys are just looking for women that aren't bitches. I love intelligent women that act intelligent, not superior.

It's probably because most high IQ women set their standards too high and come off sounding bitchy. A smart guy is going to be smart enough to run the other way when faced with a woman like this. I bet the % of smart married women is much better for non bitches.

Maybe the problem is that this study is about BRITISH women.

Who wants to marry one of those crusty, up-tight bitches anyways?

I read that earlier today. It is bullshit. When they say, "men are not just interesting enough", what they really mean is, "men are not just wealthy and submissive enough". :wink2:

I will give them just a bit of credit- I don't know how it is over there, but from what I've seen here (and granted, I'm 37 and married, so I don't see much of it anymore...) most of the younger people going to bars/nightclubs/etc. are stupid posers and unoriginal clones of whatever boy-band or bubblegum pop princess is popular at the time. I wouldn't find many of them interesting, either.

By the way, I think intelligence is a key aspect of a woman's personality.

Amen, brother. Braces and false teeth ain't cheap. I've got two words for them- tooth-paste. The brush is your friend.

This is a war story. My source of information is a newspaper article quoted by the late Johnnie Carson on The Tonight Show: "According to Associated Press a study has shown that there is a negative correlation between breast size and intelligence. Women with high intelligance tend to have smaller breasts than women with less intelligence. So if you're writing to Natalie Wood get out your thesarus and if you're writing to Sophia Loren don't use any words with more than two syllables."

I find it interesting to note that there has not been a study done on the correlation between intelligance and penis size.

I prefer Berkeley Breathed's take: There's a Bloom County cartoon where one of the male characters is dreaming and a hot woman in a French maid outfit shows up. He says, "who are you?" Her reply is basically: "Im your fantasy mate. I'm a successful career woman by day, I'll wear a French maid's outfit at night, and I'm almost but not quite as smart as you are."

It sounds like British men are morons... I'd prefer a smart lady who can take care of me, and pass good dna to my kids... now I need to convince my wife, that she's my sugar mommy, and it's time for me to retire :wink2:

I actually dumped a girl in college because she "gave me too many BJ's" at the I was thinking too much of a good thing. After about 3 months of 5-7 a day my rasberries were about to fall off.
WTF does that say about my IQ?

Hmmh, I'm not sure what it says about your IQ, but she must not have been having to strain herself too much servicing you if she was able to give you that many per day. :tongue2:
