You mean like Navy?
indiana, illinois, northwestern, minnesota, and wisconsin and michigan is heading that way. so at least 4 and maybe 6 teams can't compete on the national level. iowa is recently good and we will see if they can sustain this recent success. penn state and osu are the only teams that perennially have chances to win it all.

Coming from a notre dame fan? That is hilarious. :slappy:
i never said that notre dame was great or that they could make the national championship. only a fool would have called the last three years good. i was simply commenting on the bottom half of the conference. teams like indiana, illinois (except 2007), northwestern and minnesota haven't been good in years.

Wisconsin is pretty competitive every year. Most of those other teams at least bubble up on occasion. Aside from the SEC, no conferences have more than 1-2 perennial powers, so, you know, try again. When was the last time notre dame was competitive on a "national level"? And don't give me cholly's first two years. Those teams were the definition of a paper tiger. Your guys success isn't even up to Iowa's standards the past 15 years, so I'd be careful with the potshots.

So if perennially having a chance to win the NC is your criteria for being major league that puts NoD at what the AA level or maybe high single A ball?

Along with Ntre ame...
under weis, yeah. however, kelly at least has some experience with winning, even if it isn't at a powerhouse school. i think he can lead us to a bcs game in a couple of years. it will be easier for the irish to return to prominence than the bottom big ten schools because they don't have a conference and they have a recruiting tool that nobody else in the country can match: the ability to be seen every week on national tv. i'm not saying that they will win national championships anytime soon, but they at least be competitive with good teams this year; even if they don't win.

Notre Dame's formula to get into a BCS game was deliberately rigged to make it the school most likely to get in. Even with that going for them, the Golden Homers won't make it anytime soon.

er, like Michigan? :slappy: :slappy: :slappy:

And except for the fumbles, Purdont would have won, and the Homers would be 0-3 right now. Luckily Notre Lame played "competitive".
