Housing search on campus begins!

Yeah, our search has been limited as to anything from 15th to Lane, between High and Indianola. We got a group of 6 guys, so far the real standouts were a 10 person house on 13th and Indianola, and a 7 person house on 17th just west of Indianola. The 10 person house I know for sure isn't taken yet, and there is a chance 4 others will join with us. I'm certain the 7 person house is taken, but I still gotta check anyway.

Tomorrow we're gonna take CleveBucks' advise and browse the streets...

I'm thinking that our chances of finding a good house in that area are slim to none. We're probably gonna have to get a 4 person apartment, I'm almost certain of it. At the very least I'm thinking we're going to have to look north of Lane and west of High to find anything. The problem is all of my classes are probably going to be on south campus (biology major).

Where exactly do the vandalism problems get serious? I know you should always play it safe, but any particular areas that we should stay out of? I'm curious cause I'm getting a new car over the summer. Don't exactly want to be rolling in an Integra Type-R cause its gonna get jacked in 10 seconds flat.

First of all, V8's >> I4's or a V6, whatever the integra has!! :)

All of campus is a risk for vandalism.
However I lived on chittenden for 2 years and never had a thing happen.
I think generally North Campus is considered "safer."
I would just stay between Summit and campus if you can, and try to stay to the north.

I've lived East of High and West of High on north campus, and IMO West of High/North of Lane is the place to be. Look off of Neil in the W. Lane/W. Norwich/Northwood/Oakland area. Less vandalism especially closer to Lane, a bit cleaner, fewer shady characters roaming the streets. Still a ton of parties, not too far from almost every bar around campus (even Four Kegs and Panini's aren't a bad walk). Also kicks ass on home football Saturdays.

There's a nice looking house on the NW corner of Neil & W. Norwich with a for rent sign in the window. A few more down the street.

If you park on the street, you're less likely to get broken into or the rims stolen... but you'll get scratches, dents in the bumpers, and the occasional asshole that feels like kicking a mirror. If you park behind your house, put up a flood light and one of those real-looking fake video cameras from Lowe's. That's what we did and we haven't had a problem in the past 2 years.
