How do you get tOSU game video on to your computer?

On what media is your video?

If VHS (I assume) then you could look into dropping the VHS tape onto DVD - the easiest segue is to use a VHS-DVD Recorder combination, some of which are available for about a $100 - perhaps less these days.

If on a DVR - TiVO device you might want to think in terms of playing it back into the computer via output from DVR through a PCI or USB video-In card or gadget.

VHS-DVD-R Recorders: Once you have the content on DVD then you can edit on PC (assume you have a DVD read - preferably read & Write drive) using tools found at VideoHelp.com

PCI Video In Cards - These often come with software to ease the burden of lightweight editing. Don't expect too much from them, they are typically very rudimentary. Besides very good tools can be found, for free, at VideoHelp.com

USB Video In Devices - Like the Video cards, and same caveats apply on the tools, major benefit is that you have no need to indulge in surgery on the computer. All you need is a free USB port.

Best of luck.

Is it possible to get the DVD into Windows Movie maker somehow? And edit it from there?

And do I need some kind of special VHS/DVD recorder if I want my DVDs in HD? Or if i I have Direct T.V. in Hd,will it automatically put the DVD in HD?

-Thanks

OK - well, though it is technically feasible to get the VHS tapes recorded onto DVD media capable of handling MPEG4 HD content, there really isn't any point in doing so.

What I mean is you cannot make the content HD just by burning it onto HD compatible media (like Blu-Ray discs). Now, if you wanted to preserve HD recordings from a DirecTV HD-DVR with HD quality, then a Blu-Ray recorder or similar HD capable input card would be reuired.

But, once you get to editing the Hard drive requirements become immense - is the Blu-Ray DVD recorder really worth it? They cost substantially more. Do you have the HD space for true HD file editing? If not stick with regular DVD video quality.

The upside of that is that it becomes much easier / cheaper to handle the conversion.

So - onto the process you need.

a - the VHS-DV-recorder as indicated earlier.
b - take the DVD into the PC DVD drive
c - play using VLC Media player
d - using the how-to guides at VideoHelp learn how to output a clip from VLC Player.
e - make the clips you want and upload to YouTube as one normally would.

as for your other question about using Windows Movie Maker - well, sure anything is possible, but why stick with WMM? There are plenty of far better free alternatives available.
