36,000+ hits on that site...

by the tone of that article, Sparty might get smacked around on Saturday...

Or roughly 0.5 hits for every enolled student, faculty member and TA.

I'm not impressed.

The owner puts this thing into as many posts as he can muster on the sCUm version of BN. When he announces he has the sCUM AD's signature on his list, then I'll sit up and take notice.

Uh, no...you DON'T have a top-5 recruiting class every year.
This is true and false. I keep a speadsheet with recruiting rankings on hand for when this topic comes up, and counting the 5 recruiting classes which compose this current Wolverine team, 3 of the 5 recruiting classes were consensus Top-5 ('01, '04, '05), the 'down' years usually still result in Top-10 or 15 ranks. I've only included the last 10-years (which also cover all of Carr's full recruiting classes), but there was also a #1 ranked class following the '97 championship -- a championship Carr won with players in Moeller's highly ranked '93 and '94 classes, by the way.

I think the firelloydcarr site admin is half-right. There's definitely a trend in AA with the lack of development with these players (this years' lack of depth at UM is largely why they're 2-2). UM has 17 drafted players to OSU's 30 in the last 4 years alone. Those players who have been drafted were ones that arrived in the '98-'01 classes (Mo C is the only drafted '02 exception). UM's recruiting classes were 1, 8, 13, 2; OSU's were NR, 3, 7, 14. So UM has moved approximately half the amount of talent to the NFL despite having incoming high schoolers who were routinely ranked higher than their OSU counterparts. This stat will actually take a gigantic hit this year, particularly with OSU having as many as four first round picks (Hawk, Carp, Mangold -- all on Mel Kiper Jr's Top-25 'Big Board' -- and Holmes).

Of course, 'recuriting ranks' are entirely subjective based on whether or not you believe a guy like Tom Lemming, so take all this for what it's worth:

2005
Hodge ......... 5
Lemming ....... 4
Rivals ........ 6
Insiders ...... 2

2004
Hodge ......... 5
Lemming ....... 4
Rivals ........ 5
Insiders ...... 5

2003
Hodge ......... 7
Lemming ....... 7
Rivals ........ 17
Insiders ...... NR

2002
Hodge ......... 10
Lemming ....... 8
Rivals ........ 16
Insiders ...... 9

2001
Hodge ......... 2
Lemming ....... 2

2000
Hodge ......... 13
Lemming ....... NR

1999
Hodge ......... 8
Lemming ....... 8

1998
Lemming ....... 1

1997
Lemming ....... 5

1996
Lemming ....... 9

I don't question that Shitagan has recuited really well over the last several years. However they have fallen short in two areas that have been part of there downfall over the last 2-3 years......Linebackers and DB's. They've gotten some really highly rated DB's but for whatever reason many (not all) have not paned out. Secondly and probaly the the bigger factor is that most of their Lb's recuits have been average at best. If I remember correctly, at some point in the past they had 3 starting linebackers from Ohio, only 2 of which were recruited by Ohio State.

P.S. Slow LB's mean big day for opposing RB. Go MSU
