I don't give a darn about your indie bands

Too many big releases to count coming in May, but today had a lot of good stuff in its own right.

I ended up buying the new Ted Leo album (of course) and it's pretty good. Not his best, but better and more consistent than his last album.

I also took a chance on the new one from The Besnard Lakes. I liked their last one, and liked what I got to sample at the store. The last few that I took a chance on that way (Animal Collective, Titus Andronicus) turned out pretty good.

Broken Bells also came out today - I downloaded that one a couple weeks ago, and I'm not really digging it other than the single. It sounds like Shins outtakes + tired beats. Maybe it's a grower though, we'll see.

Sirius XMU has been playing "Tighten Up" a few times each day. So far, so good, as far as the album is concerned.

After having it for a couple weeks, is anything else worth checking out besides "The High Road"?

I heard CBS playing "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit last night as one of the games was going to commercial. Definitely not a song that had me thinking "basketball montage" when I heard it, but it beats the hell out of that Kenny Chesney song ABC insisted on playing in and out of every break during football season.

Really loving "Bloodbuzz Ohio" by The National. Definitely a grower as it has taken a few listens to hook me in. Cannot wait for this album to release...May is shaping up to be a GREAT month for new music - The National, Band of Horses, LCD Soundsystem, Exile on Main Street reissue, Hold Steady, Black Keys, The New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene, etc.

Yeah, May is pretty much going to bankrupt me.

Eh its just an opinion on music man. I listen to Bright Eyes occasionally but not like I used to. The only song by Vampire Weekend I like is the one that plays at the beginning of Step Brothers haha

Don't care for Vampire Weekend at all... Just not my cup of tea. My friends and I use the term "vampire weekend" for girls who girl toothy blow jobs.

The National Agenda - NYTimes.com

A nice feature article on The National, and their new album streaming in its entirety.

I'm trying to avoid listening to any of it right now. I've heard Bloodbuzz, Ohio (have played it constantly for the last month or so) but I want to wait to buy the album on release day to hear the rest. I feel like the internet has taken away from the experience of putting on a CD or record and listening to it from start to finish to hear everything for the first time. I'm trying to get some of that back with the releases I care about the most.

You're a stronger man than me. High Violet is simply amazing...

Definitely agree with you about missing the "experience". Radiohead's "In Rainbows" was the first album in years that really made me miss the anticipation of buying a cd and listening to it in full for the first time.
