If Tressel retired today, who would you want to replace him?

Whoever we would pick I just hope he would not:
-p*** off his former fans to the point that he can't return to whatever state he came from
-Run off every returning starter
-Try to change every tradition to his liking
-Run a one-dimensional offense
-Put OSU's name in the middle of a $4million lawsuit

In other words, I don't want to hire Rich Rodriguez.

Schiano?? Does he even have a link to the state of Ohio, let alone tOSU? Moot matter probably anyways, as I have heard he would jump at the PSU job if JoePa steps down.

If Tressel had to leave, I'd love to see Bob Stoops here. Youngstown native, recruits well, gets the most out of his players. Not sure about his discipline, how much he stresses academics and morals, how "classy" he is, and I don't think he'd leave Oklahoma anyways, but that would be who I'd pick. My short list of candidates would include Urban Meyer, Luke Fickell, Brian Kelly, & Rob Spence (Clemson O-Coordinator, ex-Toledo O-Coordinator). Hesitant to put Dantonio on that list until he can prove himself by turning MSU around and I'd like to see him up recruit better (he's got a great start to this year's class). I'm predicting Spence to be the newest "up-and-comer". He made Toledo into a perennial favorite in the MAC and Clemson's gonna win the ACC this year thanks to his offensive schemes and recruiting prowess.

Stoops is just one of the members of a LONG list of Ohio natives who are coaching at top tier schools. It kills me to see how many coaches include tOSU in thier CVs and go on to bite us in the tucas at some point.

As far as the original quesiton. Doc is high on my list as well. I'd love to Luke fall in line as a candidate after the next coach. Give him some time to run something for himself and then come in and take over.

Either way... as said by others. Glad it's not something that needs to be addressed right now.

:oh:
