Well, the last few seasons have shown the general inability to throw out of the base pro set due to the ineffective run game...again(broken record)

Without the run...playaction is useless unless it is a power pass/flood but those are relatively ineffective if the DL allows the LBs to play slow to flow.

Just my opinion here, but until the OL shapes up...nothing will improve.

BTW, welcome aboard Piney, you will fit in well around here

why hasn't Tressel even thought about hiring a fulltime offensive coordinator

I think you hit it right on the head there. Ohio State has the money to get someone able to prepare a gameplan. I understand Tressel is a great coach, but not many coaches can do it without Offensive Coordinators.

everyone that knows me knows how i just love the big uglies.....i spent two years saying that however fat the buckeyes offensive line was in 02 and 03....and to all of the posters that reamed them....that the offensive line was actually the strongest part of the offense both years...

sims, step, mangold, olivea and clarke were great....

who here would reverse their bashing stance of the oline the past two years to have step, olivea and clarke back again????

i really believe that clarke was the mvp of the team the last two games of 02....that young man was flat out possessed.....

this years experiment with the oline...to phrase miliani...has blown up in the buckeyes face...

at least the line of mangold, sims, olivea, step and clarke had streams of snot coming out of their noses when they came to the line.....

Spurrier could do it because he left his defense to the Dcoor.

Tressel is a great coach. But as any head coach will tell you, being the HC takes so much time overseeing all other aspects of the game and the team, that coordinators are damn near required. In this mass media age, I don't know how a head coach can take it all on himself without running himself to an early grave.
