Sounds interesting...a couple of questions.

1. Where is it?

2. What kind of handicaps are you guys toting? Are hackers welcome? I don't play often enough (nor well enough) to get my 'cap much below 30, but I can drink beer just fine.

Sorry for the lack of info....

Location is at Oakhaven GC (Delaware)

And no skill is not required, neither is beer drinking (Though Recommended..:wink2:)

The format will be Best ball front nine, Scramble on the back nine

Do they require that format? I thought we decided to scrap the best ball part of the outing after we went 3 over in the sample outing.

Also is this the morning or the afternoon outing?

My check will be in the mail sometime this week.

We can change the format to be what ever we want. Suggestions are welcome and we have up to the week of the outing to figure it out.

Our tee time is around noon we will have a definite time by the 16th but it will be close to 12:00.

Thanks for prepaying hawg:wink:

Okay, I played two "scrambles" last week and they were "best ball" format. Obviously, you're making a distinction the people in western PA do not make. (Freakin' Penn State fans) :wink2:

By "best ball" are you referring to best drive then everyone plays their own ball the rest of the whole, with "scramble" being best ball on each shot? Please clarify for the majorly handicapped.

Let me start working on a WHAC tour for the winners or something like that....I don't know if that is of interest to anyone....since I can't play, I thought I could help a little....

No promises....but, i'll try....

Scramble - Every player in the foursome (or threesome, twosome) tees off. The group selects the best tee shot of those four balls and then everyone plays from that location. After all four players hit their second shot, the group again determines the best second shot and everyone plays from that location (the other three balls are picked up and moved to that location). This continues until the ball is holed out.

Best Ball - Confusing, because this sounds like what a Scramble should be called. Anyway, in Best Ball all players in the foursome (or threesome, twosome) play their own ball during the hole. At the completion of the hole the team (or foursome, threesome, twosome) takes whichever score is the lowest of the four players. If player A shoots a 4, player B shoots a 5, player C shoots a 3 and player D shoots a 4 ... the the team takes player C's 3 as it's score for that hole. All following holes are played the same way.

There are variations to both these games, but that's the basics.

Man, I'd love to play. I'll need to check the schedule and see if I can get free.

This should be a great event, there will be prizes and we're talking about selling up to 2 mulligans per person to help go to prizes and a donation to BP.

If we could get a few people to prepay for this event it would be a big help. PM scarletandgray or me for more information, preferably by check (paypal charges a fee).

I also think an 18 hole scramble is the way to go, but if people want Best ball then it's cool to me.

If we play a scramble we should definately employ the rule where everyone's drive has to be used at least twice. Scrambles can be no fun if a team has a ringer and nobody else is able to contribute.

Anyways, this event is officially on, so please PM me or scarlet to let us know if you are planning on attending and how many people you will be bringing!

Btw, Scarlet meant July 12th is the date he has to know by (I believe), not June 12th. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But the sooner we know who's coming the better we can plan the event!

This should REALLY be a good time. Don't worry about how good a golfer you are or what kind of clubs you play. Damnit, pull those hickory shafts out of the garage and have some beers and laughs with some Buckeye fans!

At least it will give us a chance to not look at Police Beat in the paper worrying about which buckeye may appear there.

Anyone want to put a Florida team together and head up?
I live in Savannah, Georgia would be willing to go if we could get a team together. Would you be driving up or flying back? Let me know we could carpool or something if driving. I'm up for a little golf with some fellow Buckeye fans!!
