Indians Prediction

If the Tribe can win this 4 game series with Tampa Bay they will make the playoffs. The Rays just swept them a couple weeks ago so this will be a test to see if they are metally tough enough to handle a playoff run this season.

I understand this is a prediction, but why does this four game series against the lowly Rays mean everything? There is a Month + a few wks until the season ends. A LOT can happen.
It's just something that popped into my head so I though it would make for a good discussion. To come back and win 3 or 4 games against a team that swept them 2 weeks ago would make me feel pretty good about the Tribe. IMHO they will be in the Wild Card lead if they can sweep TB. They have big series against the Twins, A's, and White Sox next month that are more important than this 4 game set with TB, but in my mind this is important.

the key to the indians making the postseason is consistency. they were absolutely terrible in April, and putrid for the first 2 weeks after the all-star break.

aside from that, they have been very solid. They cant afford another lapse like those two.

Honestly, I don't think the Yanks have the pitching to get it done. The shame of it is that the white sox have finally come back to reality and will likely limp into the playoffs.

Whether or not Oakland or the Angels fall apart at the end of the year will dictate whether cleveland sneaks into the wildcard.

I just checked and the Tribe plays the Wsox 6 times in the last 2 weeks of the season including the last 3 games of the season. How insane would the Jake be if the Tribe goes into that series with a chance to overtake the Sox to win the Central?

that would really bring some life to the team. maybe it would prompt dolan to unclench is ass muscles and pony up a little change to get the one or two missing pieces cleveland will need to be a legit WS contender in 06.

oakland dropping two this weekend to the royals must have them reeling at this point.

I wonder if anyone would notice... Stupid fans... but this quote seems more and more real everytime I looked at the attendance. When was the last time we broke 30,000 fans?

"In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Indians have managed to win a few ball games"

well, considering Cleveland topped 100k in attendance for this past weekend's 3 game set with baltimore, i would say cleveland broke 30k rather recently.

ok, ok I screwed up. Just read another article that the Indians are still in bottom 5 for attendance and saw only 28,000 were there Sunday so since I didn't see any of the last few games since I was at a casino I just assumed instead of looking what they did for Friday & Saturday attendance.

But still, the fans better bring their rears and get in the 35,000 range with consistancy.

That would be pretty cool for Indians fans, but I still feel that their best chance is having NYY, Boston, Oakland, and the Angels lose some games since the East and West have battles for the #1 spots

I was at the sold out game saturday night and it was absolutely electric down there. People were up on their feet being loud w/o even being told in the 1st inning. Sounds like a small thing, but it is a step. Even better, they had fireworks after the game. They played Hang on Sloopy and half of the crowd was chanting, O-H-I-O. I think the baseball fever is starting to come back in cleveland.
