Iowa 24, Penn St. 23 (Final)

Yes. If MSU and OSU win out. We tie for the Big Ten championship. We get the Rose Bowl bid because of the head to head matchup. If Penn State and us win out, then Penn State gets the Rose Bowl bid for the same reason. But a 10-2 Ohio State team will likely get a BCS at-large bid.

I'll worry about that stuff once we get to 10-2. For now, I'm enjoying the moment. A Rose Bowl bid for us isn't worth a BCS title game for PSU. I'd rather get a share of the Big Ten title and take my chances of maybe not getting a BCS bid.

Worst case, we'd probably play an SEC team on New Year's Day, which would be a good chance for us to exorcise some demons. I could definitely live with that this year.

I disagree.

a) If we win out, at 10-2. We will be top 10 in the BCS rankings, and with our fan base, and TV ratings, we will get an at-large bid to either the Orange or Fiesta Bowl
b) If PSU loses to MSU, we now go to the Rose Bowl as Big Ten reps.
c) If we win out, we are at least co-Big Ten champs. That would make four in a row. Pretty sweet.

In my opinion, if Penn State had gone to the NCG, then getting the Rose Bowl, while finishing 2nd in the Big Ten, would have stunk. The Rose Bowl is for the Big Ten champ. Not winning the Big Ten, and then going there, to me is like a consolation prize. AND THE ROSE BOWL SHOULDNT BE A CONSOLATION PRIZE!

I'm glad Iowa won. I don't care about Penn State. I don't care about Big Ten perception. I care about Ohio State winning the Big Ten...and this helped. Plus I hate Penn State.

How did you find that one and not the 2 posts after that when I realized my mistake?

I agree. Even if this causes us to go to the Cap One bowl if we win out...i'm glad it happened. Now just win the next two!!!

2 things I will go to my grave not understanding.

1- They were backed up deep 2 times, and they tried to throw the ball 5 of 6 plays. Result: a fumble at the 1, and another punt from their own end zone. Stupidity at its mosr obvious.

2- I will never, NEVER, understand why coaches do this, but Joe, buddy, you earned this one. The TE Quarless is, by all accounts, a dirtbag, who has been suspended or benched for about half of his career. So, with everything on the line, with a possible NC trip and undefeated season up for grabs, what does Joe do? Bench Shuler, a decent 2nd generation player, reasonable blocker, and good guy who works hard, and puts Quarless in. Result? At LEAST 2-3 obvious missed blocks with no effort that got his QB killed, and 3 dropped 1st downs. AT LEAST. Oh, and Shuler actually CAUGHT the pass from Williams when he was in there.

Quarless is the biggest waste of size and raw potential in the history of Penn State football and a scumbag, but Joe put him in there anyway. Reap. What. You. Sow.

I'm glad that PSU lost, it helps tOSU on the B10 title chase, and I think if they would have made it to the NC game, they would have embarrassed the league again. They have a nice team and they did beat tOSU, but they are not an elite team.

Man that is a pretty nice meltdown, how old are some of those posters? Some of them are talking about crying over the loss.

My mother was in South Bend for the PSU / ND game in 2006. During the game, it was announced on the speaker that Big Ten refs were in charge of this game. PSU fans immediately started complaining. My mom turns around and says "Why do you hate them? Because they call holding on you?" The next play: Holding on PSU.

No joke.

It's all about the Buckeyes winning the Big Ten with a true freshman at the helm and a bunch of seniors who returned. I am happy with a Fiesta or Orange Bowl bid.
