No shit...can't wait to dump my 9530. The GPS sucks ass and the Facebook app won't update itself.

For some reason, the idea of Mili furiously checking his facebook is hilarious to me...

Wish we could see 30 years ago what we have now...we'd have shit all over ourselves.

I mean... 15 or even 10 years ago with the advances in hand-held technology and wireless intertubes...

Just ordered the 4S (32GB version) with Sprint on-line. Actually, the applecare plan is less than the [Mark May]ty recycled phone repair plan Sprint sold - and better.

I am grandfathered in to the unlimited data plan, but - ahem - there is a $10 per month fee for "premium" data if I get the phone. Which seems to me is not unlimited at all - but unlimited if you pay them $10. If I am bored enough I might invoke the arbitration clause to try to get that waived. :sneaky:

Edit: they say they will have it to me by the 15th. We'll see.

That will probably fit my music collection. Of course I am also a guy that has 18 TB of storage for movies and television, so I can understand collecting tons of media.

Get something with ZumoCast. I'm able to stream my whole collection of music and videos to my Bionic from my home computer. At first I was a little worried about the size of the Bionic, but now that I realized I can thumb type like I did with my BB I am happy. I would have had a hard time typing on an iPhone. If I wasn't able to get the Bionic for $150 I probably would have waited and picked up an iPhone 4 for $100 because I'm a cheap bastard.

Though the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S look the same, it seems like the AT&T iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S are just different enough—the silent switch and volume up/down buttons are shifted ever so slightly—that your old cases won't fit. The iPhone 4S button layout is a lot like the Verizon iPhone 4 (though we can't confirm if they're exactly the same) and those cases needed to accomodate for the button shift. There were cases that worked for both models, yes, but if you had an AT&T iPhone 4 and a case that didn't have an open gap for the iPhone's left side buttons, you'll proobaaably need to look for a new one.

Well, it looks like AT&T wants to turn this into an ordeal. Apparently my phone is eligible for upgrade three months before my wife's, in spite of the fact that we started both lines on this account and got our phones at the same time. They want to charge $450 for the $200 model on her line unless we wait until January. Upgrading my phone without hers would never fly, so my only other choice is to pay two prorated ETFs and go back to Sprint. To highlight just how stupid this is on their part, it's actually cheaper for me to just leave (prorated ETF: $95/line) than to pay the extra money for the "discounted" price on her phone. I'm grandfathered into unlimited data right now, so Verizon would be a no-go. I realize this arbitrary bullshit happens with every carrier, and in the end I'll probably just end up waiting it out, but right now I'm pissed off enough right now to at least consider a switch. Fuckers.

I call the customer service, and then say - just put me with the person who cancels the phones. When they ask why, say it again. When you get to that person, you ask for the specifics of the plan penalties they insist you have to pay, and then ask for the arbitration rules. If you keep it clear that you are gathering facts to write them a formal letter canceling your plan ( as opposed to actually canceling on the phone), the "cancel the plan" person can do things the Customer Service Dept cannot do - including the Customer Service Supervisor.

That's just how they roll, procedure wise. I've had great success over the years doing this. Getting mad explaining the same story to the ninth customer service person is not worth your time.

Or you could get a phone for you - and let her use it while you carry her purse. :p

No dice. Talked to a retention specialist. Asked every question and made every implication short of actually cancelling my service and they couldn't (wouldn't) budge. The rep basically agreed that this was all quite stupid on AT&T's part to make it more expensive to stay than go, but didn't offer any more than a $25/month bill credit.

I would love to call AT&T's bluff, but the reality is that the more sensible thing is to just wait the three months rather than plunk down extra $190 in ETFs to prove a point.

Oh well, iOS5 will refresh my 3GS and hold me over for three months.

Sorry to hear that. Sprint will usually fold like a shot duck.

If the start date of the lines is wrong though, I'd file a request for arbitration just for the hell of it. Always the chance someone gets the letter and says "Wait a minute - all I have to do is let his wife get a phone and this goes away...??"

I now have a 4s - it's my first smartphone.
Just picked mine up a couple hours ago on the way to work. Got in line about 7:15 (was eighth person in line) for the 8:00 opening time. Was out of the store with iPhone 4S in hand with contacts all transferred from my BlackBerry Storm before 9:00. Also got a $50 discount because had an unused upgrade credit. Went straight to work so I haven't had time to play with it yet, but I did try Siri by asking it "Where am I?" and within seconds it replied, "Your current location is" and displayed a Googled map with my position marked. Fucking. Cool.
