It's been a long time coming....

Gotta go with BN27 and osugrad on this one. Clearly there was no intent to take a swipe a Sheffield here. I do not watch Sportcenter anymore, but I do listen to Mike and Mike, they were going on and on about it this morning. Curiousity got the best of me, so when I got to work, I turn on ESPN news in the conference room. IMO this is a nonissue if Sheffield controls himself. I should have known better...Imagine ESPN trying to make a controversy out of nothing simply to get ratings. If only the network had a history of doing this sort of thing, then I would have known better. :shake:

Dan Patrick has been all over it today as well. Thinks Sheff will get suspended.

The guy didn't intentionally go at Sheff, I think that much is clear. But, he did make contact with Sheff and he shouldn't have been putting himself in the field of play regardless.

Every angle I saw made it look like a casual swipe by some idiot who probably had a few beers and didn't realize Sheff was that close...

If it even moved the bill of his cap, I'd be surprised...

Sheffield saying he thought his lip was busted is such BS...he was probably getting razzed the whole game and seized the opportunity to put the fear of God in a fan.

It didn't even look like he was swiping at Sheffield but rather the ball or he was reaching to keep his buddy from going for the ball. There's no way in hell he "struck" Sheffield.

When OSU plays as tough as schedule as ND then we can talk about ND joining a conference!

I guess you refused to read the earlier post which clearly showed that ND's and OSU's SOS are nearly identical. And with that identical SOS we've gone 33-6 with a national title, an additional top-4 finish, and three BCS bowl wins over the last three seasons, while ND has gone 21-16, was ranked 17th once, and got blown out in their only bowl game.

The fan is a season ticket holder and I doubt he would be dumb enough to jeopardize his status as such. I can tell you as a sox fan who lived two blocks from Fenway, that Fenway , when the yankees are in town is a very angry/bitter place. This rivalry does not have the one day a year magnitude that the OSU/scUM game has, but the hatered for the yankees is like something I have never experienced (Imagine having scUM break your heart for like 100 years straight). If you go to the stadium as a sox fan you will be harassed as expected (go in numbers). If you go to Fenway as a foot-soldier of the evil empire, you will a very good chance of getting injured and this is not an exageration. I am not proud of this as a sox fan, but this is how it is. I live in NY now and wear my sox hat all the time. If you wear a yanks hat in boston watch your back.

I can echo these sentiments. There are a TON of Sox fans who're angry, bitter, and violent when it comes to the Yankees. I'm not saying this isn't the case the other way around as well, but the guilty Yankee-fans are degenerates to begin with, and the guilty Sox fans come from all backgrounds: respected businessmen, etc.

Especially in that outfield/bullpen area. I can't tell what was going on in this particular incident, but I wouldn't put it past the guy if it was an intentional poke.

boo-hoo. Talk about my favorite team, or I'll get mad.

what a fucking baby.

Pretty feeble attempt on your part. Please do better than that if you're going to intentionally stir the pot. You're losing your touch.
