It's going to be USC, whats everyones thoughts?

I haven't seen a thread for this, sorry if I am missing it.

I think USC is a very good and balanced team. No glaring weakness to exploit ala tsun and Texas. Much more athletic back 7 than tsun but nowhere near the front 4. If they give TS as much time as BQ had last night he'll do some big damage.

On the other hand I don't see where they have any kind of match up to exploit on us. We have a much more balanced Offense than NoD and they did just fine vs USC.

I would be worried about that QB if I'm a USC fan. Get rattled like that for a whole quarter vs OSU and it could cost you a game pretty quick.

Overall I see two pretty even teams in terms of athletic ability but an edge to OSU in big game QB and coaching. They match up pretty well on us, I don't see a blowout at all. Hope I'm wrong.

Normally I am one to worry, but USC does not scare me at all. The only thing that worries me is having one of their safeties taking Ginn or Gonzo's head off.

Chad Henne > John David Booty
Mike Hart > Chauncey Washington and C.J. Gable
Mario Manningham = Dwayne Jarrett (maybe a slight edge to Jarrett?)
UM OLs > USC OLs
UM DLs > USC DLs
UM LBs = USC LBs (maybe a slight edge to the UM linebackers)
UM DBs < USC DBs

Brady Quinn had 76 rushing yards last night...Imagine how many yards on the ground Smith could have....Imagine how many yards on the ground Ginn could have if he took a few snaps at QB...

ND found some nice running room against them last night... and Darius Walker is not even close to Pittman or Chris Wells...

Brady Quinn had a ton of time to throw the ball last night... if Troy gets that much time he'll throw for 350+.

Give Tressel a month to prepare and he will come up with a gameplan to contain Jarrett. John David Booty is easy to rattle and it shows, their rushing attack is fair inferior to Michigans.

I haven't seen enough of USC to make a determination on their offensive and defensive lines, but I have to admit I was underwhelmed last night. I expected USC to blow ND off both sides of the ball, and that didn't seem to happen until late in the game after ND was about ready to quit. The WR match ups are going to be fun to watch though. ND & Quinn really carved up the USC secondary last night, but it wasn't reflected on the scoreboard because of all the drops (particularly on McKnight). OSU won't drop as many passes, and Troy gives his receivers a better opportunity to run after the catch.

I think it'd be a close, but high scoring game, much like the OSU/UM game.

If I'm Malcolm Jenkins or Antonio Smith, I'm not sleeping very well at the thought of covering Jarrett though. Obscene!

Definitely a tough assignment, but I can't wait for the first time Malcolm smacks him right in that Keyshawn-esque mouth of his.

...Hey Mike Hart!

HA! HA!  :slappy:

Good luck in the Rose Bowl Michisuck. Try not to embarass yourselves this year. But hey, they have Mike "the guarentee" Hart, so I'm sure it will be different this time. :wink2:

Beyond that thought, I'm glad it's USC. Exciting matchup. And I like our chances! :osu:

For some of the reasons you guys say, this will be a great game. I am looking forward to it.
I think we have the same edge as we did against Meech.
USC didn't show me as good a pass rush as tsun did.
I think Troy gets time and slices and dices.

I think we beat USC solidly. They've shown some inconsistency, and if the QB is getting rattled they really seem to lose their rhythm. Our D will overpower them, and our O is just too hot to handle. I think we'll win by 14-17 pts.

a 3 month old could adequetly cover jarrett so long as mr. booty is flat on his back under 500+lb's of pissed off dlinemen.

oh and by the by... the talking head bs has begun. according to mark may, usc will beat tOSU in the national championship this year by 3 points.

This is another big game where our edge is at QB play making ability.

I think we can run on them and make plays in the passing game.

And I think Troy's running will give them fits!

Conversely, their big WRs will make plays and score!
But, can they score enough?
And If Booty gets rattled, will he throw some interceptions?

So, it looks to me the keys to winning will be each QB's play.
I like our chances!
