Izzo meets with the Cavs to discuss job offer.

Sources close to WFNY have informed us that Tom Izzo has told his players at Michigan State that he plans on taking the Cavaliers job. Our sources have heard directly from players on the MSU team that Izzo informed them this week that he is planning on making the move up to the NBA level under the ownership of MSU grad Dan Gilbert. We have also heard from a separate source that Izzo is holding off on announcing this until the end of the week, when his kids finish up school in the Lansing area. While Izzo could always change his mind, we are comfortable reporting that he has in fact informed his players at Michigan State that he will be taking the Cavaliers job.

I'm pretty shocked he took the job (if true), although the source might not be the best.

Twitter is abuzz that Delvon Roe told his coach at St Eds this was the case. I posted it in the 'July 1st - Det News' thread... But its quite baseless right now.

Speaking as someone who just took a walk around campus (I do every day) and by the Athletic complex, Breslin etc...I can tell you that Izzo was not in his office and there were no player there about an hour ago. Place was dead.

In fact I can't remember a day this week when Izzo's car has been in the lot and the blinds on his window's wide open....

So unless this meeting took place "not today" or "not on campus" I doubt it took place.

Comp at SpartanMag reported at 2 pm that Izzo was playing golf in Lansing today and "the word" is he will soon announce he is staying. Who do you believe?

Actually on ESPN Radio, they just announced the Cavs weren't putting all their eggs in the "Izzo Basket" stating that they had offered two other coaches...whose names I can't recall at the moment. But either way, he it seems hasn't taken the job.

No I didnt want him to go, this is very bad. He hasn't even confirmed if Lebron is staying yet. I think this is a bad move for both sides. I looked forward to seeing his teams in the NCAA tournament.

Hell, at least you had the days it was happening to process everything. I was in Vegas from Thursday til Tuesday and I didn't even find out til today during lunch that Ferry resigned... WTF???? And Izzo???
