Clowney has had a busy week

By Phil Kornblut
DE Jadeveon Clowney of South Pointe has had few spare moments this week as college coaches have blazed a trail to his school and home. LSU was in to see him today. Earlier in the week he saw coaches from Clemson, West Virginia, Alabama and Auburn. Clowney said Wednesday that USC head coach Steve Spurrier is scheduled for his in person visit Thursday. Also, Florida State is due to visit with Clowney Thursday. Clowney has taken an official visit to USC. He is set to visit Florida State January 7th after playing in the Under Armour All American game, and he's down for his visit to Alabama January 14th. Clowney said his other two official visits will be LSU and Auburn. He said there is no favorite at this time, and in fact he said there never has been.

Duane Long argues we have as good a shot as anyone in his latest blog entry...

He also thinks we have a good shot at Charles Grant, who I think used up his eligibility at UGA before being drafted by the Saints...

Duane is great...Duane is wrong on this one...OSU's chances are VERY slim. Could it happen? Of course it could. Is it likely? Not in the least...

LOL I was wondering if Curtis was C. Grants middle name and Charles was his real first name or something and Duane knew something I didn't. hahaha

BuckeyePlanet has a poster or two who have a lot more connections in South Carolina than Duane does, so I am going to go with the BPRT on this one

duane al$o ha$ other obligation$ in that he ha$ to help $ell $ubcription$ to his $ervice and web$ite...

not that the paysites are a very valuable source for information, but they need to generate pay subscriptions and that involves marketing, hyping and the occasionally stretching of the realities to drive their growth/existence...

Grad, what's the quality of the competition Clowney faces? His highlights are amazing. However, when I was watching the ESPNU Under Armor announcement show the highlights they showed were very high quality and it seemed like the linemen he was going against were about 5'9" 350lbs. I know it's a highlight reel but it also seemed like the coaches of his opponents weren't smart enough to have the tightend or fullback help out very often.

He faced excellent competition this year. Of course, some weeks much tougher than others but overall a good schedule.

Oh my God.
I've been happy to see he at least has some interest in us (though everything seems to suggest that this race has been over for a while), but I haven't had him high on my wish list, due to the fact that we're already loaded at the DE position. But after seeing just how dominant he is in that video, I think he just took over my #1 spot.
