Jadeveon Clowney (DE Carolina Panthers)

I was very pleasantly surprised when I clicked on, and found his thread down here again. Have to add, in 40 years of watching high school football, I've never seen what I saw in that film. Hey, even if we don't get him, at least we're loaded with quality DEs for years to come.

I don't have the inside scoop on him, but if he's reaching out to our coaching staff like that, that's a great sign. Think Texas LB Anthony Wallace from this same class. Fantastic, talented kid that can go pretty much anywhere he wants for school and he's going out of his way to "recruit" our coaches to recruit him. That's saying something.

That said, I'm not getting my hopes up on Jadeveon. Southern boys generally stay close to home and his top two have been the upstart school in his home state and the reigning national champion for quite some time. Until something changes with those two, we are a dark horse in this race.

If I had a time machine, I'd go back about 10 years and show this film to a Columbus-area business man who could offer Jadeveon's mother a nice job.

You sound like Arkansas basketball, Arizona bball, etc....

Just is what it is....not fair to Clowney though. Nothing says this will happen in his recruitment. It only happens to players whose parents have their hands open....

This kid would be beyond icing on the cake....

It's odd that this news broke the same day Shell got his verbal offer. Both recruitments are situations where we're already deep at their position, but as people have said, you take the best that's out there. When you have a shot at total game changers like these two appear to be, you do whatever you can (within the rules) to get them.

Awesome! Ohio State's chances went from 0% to 1%. :tongue2:

Seriously though, if he has concerns about Alabama being too far from home, its hard to picture him coming to Ohio State.
