Is this kid real, or a cyborg, or maybe a 25 year old playing with high schoolers! A DE shouldn't be able to have a 97yd run or return a fumble for 58yds! This kid can't be 6'6'' 250lbs! Amazing athlete!!!

bingo 97yard TD for anyone is amazing but, his size. like a cyborg, u a trekkie lol

Rivals $ - EXCLUSIVE: Clowney leaning?

10/12

From GameCock Central...talks about being at SC's win over Alabama...says Miami has fallen off and is considering South Carolina, Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State and says those four will likely get officials.

It says volumes about where OSU is in terms of national recruiting and perception that we're even on the list, regardless of how this shakes out. Kudos to the staff if they manage to actually get him up here for an official visit.

I'm not going to delve into it deeply in Clowney's thread, but I saw it difficult to keep Spurrier out of the elite recruiting scene forever. But in terms of Clowney, you just do whatever you can to get him here on an official. You throw the kitchen sink at a talent like Jadeveon.

Since I've been raised in South Carolina for most of my life and I know all of the high schools around my area, including South Pointe.

I would say he's a heavy lean to South Carolina like all of his friends there. The game against Alabama did wonders for them, seeing his best friends winning the big one will do a great favor for South Carolina. Although, I can say that his high school uniform looks EXACTLY just like Ohio State with stickers and all, no kidding. That could put OSU as a close second!

Sounds like the broken record of the '10 recruiting class. Seems like we kept coming in second on all of our top targets' lists. Hicks, Floyd, Joyner, Shaw, Moses, (Anderson and Henderson debacles, who knows). I think the difference in this class is that we missed out on guys where we weren't bringing in others of their positions. Not that I'm saying I don't want Clowney bad, but at least he's at a position where it won't hurt us if we don't get him.

Clowney does it all as nation's No. 1 defensive end
South Pointe superstar scored 37 touchdowns as a freshman, still an offensive threat as well.

As a 6-foot-3, 205-pound tailback, Jadeveon Clowney scored 37 touchdowns for the freshman football team at South Pointe (Rock Hill, S.C.). Though he also doubled at defensive end, Clowney loved carrying the pigskin.

South Pointe High's Jadeveon Clowney.

Today, as a senior, he is the No. 1 defensive end and No. 2 overall player in the nation, according to Tom Lemming of CBS and MaxPreps. There are very few carries on his resume, so what happened?

"I grew up," replied Clowney, 6-foot-6, 251 pounds. "I wanted to be a running back, but they said I got too tall. I was upset with my coaches changing my position. I was mad, but I played anyway."

Clowney says of his high ranking, "It's pretty good knowing that I've been chosen from a lot of good players. It's not that much pressure. The coach tells me not to pay any attention."

South Pointe coach Bobby Carroll definitely did not make a mistake, because Clowney has greatly disrupted opposing offenses for the past three years and is one of the most highly-sought players in the nation. His final five college choices are Miami, Florida State, Alabama, South Carolina and LSU.

As a junior, Clowney led South Pointe with 144 tackles and 23 sacks. This year he leads the once-beaten Stallions with 76 tackles and 11.5 sacks.

"In my 28 years of coaching, he stands alone," Carroll said. "He's an absolutely phenomenal player. I knew he'd be a defensive player. I'm a defensive coach. He's an unbelievable pass rusher. He has a 36-inch vertical jump. He has 4.5 speed (for 40 yards). It's amazing, he's so dang fast. Coach Saban (Alabama's Nick Saban) talks about his motor that runs all the time. Coach Tressel (Ohio State's Jim Tressel) texted me and said he is one of the most humble kids he'd seen in a long time."

Not sure if this has been mentioned in the thread but wasn't Derek Ross from Rock Hill SC? I remember Stephon Gilmore, another kid from this school saying that was the reason he was looking at tOSU. Just a thought on another connection.

His final five college choices are Miami, Florida State, Alabama, South Carolina and LSU.

So on the 12th, he says he's down to South Carolina, Alabama, Florida State, and Ohio State, with Miami now out. Then two days later, somebody writes an article saying that he's down to five, with Miami back in it and LSU replacing OSU. Either he changed his mind very quickly, or somebody is a terrible journalist.

I have no doubts that he will be in garnet and black. I sat very close to him last weekend for the 'bama game and he had a great time. His mom has seen every game since he was in pee wee football and she was sitting right next to him last weekend. It will be a shocker if he goes out of state.
