Jake Diebler (Head Coach)

The way I see it.

You have an Ohio guy, from a coaching family that knows basketball and loves Ohio State. Add the energy the team plays with, his gameday roster/lineup management and the results…I say go for it.

No one else excites me on the list. You swing and miss on him, so what. The program has been floundering for years. It won’t get worse. I’m positive of that with Diebs.

The other aspect…and I know it isn’t a one-for-one directly with NIL but say you get Diebler on a hometown deal for 3 years because he’s green. What’s to say Ohio State doesn’t then funnel some of the “savings” to recruiting efforts. Up the advertisement for Ricart as the official dealership of OSU basketball or whatever. Then he earmarks some donations to the bball bucket of NIL (again, I know that isn’t exact but we’re not far off).

Basketball, even more than football, can be instant impact with recruiting. If Ohio State wants to be great, 1870 and The Foundation can make that happen.

Diebler has shown he’s actually competent enough to win games with Top 10 classes, unlike his predecessor.

Best case we got our guy for 25 years.

Didn't think he had a chance when he was handed the interim. But the way the team responded to him and his rotations made me a believer he should get a shot. Illinois ref debacle just cemented it.

It’s a smart move. Diebs wore the S&G not long ago, he bleeds the colors. He’s going, energetic, and will do anything for the team. He’s hungry. Also likely to be a as much smaller paycheck than what would be offered to May.
