Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

You know what is going to suuuuh-uuuuhhhh-uuuck?

Hearing the endless speculation about who the next coach is going to be - for an entire year.

I realize that the University has appointed an interim coach for the year and that he has the inside track on getting the job - if things go well - but that won't stop anyone.

Ugh.

My guess, and I would put $ on it, Urban Meyer will be our next coach.

A very sad day for the program and the University. Regardless of what has transpired, JT has always been a class act and I have been proud of how he has represented the University. Unfortunately, I think most of this knew that this was inevitable.

There will be countless speculations about the effect of recruiting, who the next coach will be, etc. etc. This is a bump in the road...The program WILL survive and everything will be alright. Go Bucks!

These kids are going to want to know who they are playing for, what kind of offense/defense they will be in to make an informed decision. You're telling me someone is going to pledge their college career to an unknown? I wouldn't let my child, if I had one.

I really don't think they can afford to not name a coach for an entire year. It will ruin recruiting.

I'm sorry, I read your first post wrong. I agree with you. I think this upcoming years recruiting is going to take a BIG hit. I wouldn't want my kid going to an unknown either

From who I know Fickell was always going to be the next guy. I just think they wanted this to happen a little later and under different circumstances.
Where did you hear that from? I've never heard a mention of that. I know from MANY players, they love coach Fick, but I don't think I'd take him as a long term coach.
